Extremely disappointing experience with…

Extremely disappointing experience with AUTO1.

This is already my second problematic transaction with this company.

During my first purchase, the vehicle was delivered with completely different wheels, and the second set shown in the listing photos was missing. AUTO1 refused to take responsibility, referring to formal CMR documentation, even though a transport company cannot reasonably verify the vehicle’s equipment. The issue was closed with a standard template response.

The second case is much more serious.

I purchased a vehicle that was 2 years and 2 months old with less than 87,000 km mileage. After delivery, a malfunction of the cabin heating system and the high-voltage traction battery heating system was detected. Diagnostic inspection confirmed the cause: a defective heat pump. The repair cost is estimated at €3,000–€5,000.

The diagnostic report confirms that the defect existed before the vehicle was delivered. This issue was not disclosed at the time of sale.

Despite this, AUTO1 refused to properly review the case and again referred only to their internal Terms & Conditions, stating that the decision is “final.” No substantive legal explanation was provided, only a standard email closing the case.

This creates a strong impression that the company avoids responsibility for significant pre-existing defects by relying solely on internal regulations rather than addressing the actual facts.

This matter will now be resolved through legal channels.

I strongly recommend that potential buyers carefully consider these experiences before doing business with AUTO1.

I just bought a car from auto1

I just bought a car from auto1, with a serious problem in the gearbox, Audi Q5 the repair of which costs 1500eur, auto1 did not mention anything in the ad, and in the end they did not accept anything and made me spend more money on diagnostics and workshops, promising that they would help me, but nothing.
My advice is to avoid this type of seller at all costs.
they are looking for reasons not to take responsibility for anything.
Then I am not talking about transport delays - the transport of one car from Italy to Latvia has not been delivered since 02.12.2025 for 2 months, and the ad mentioned 20 days.

Also from the Netherlands with export tax they will dig that they will return 1700eur, it has not been returned since 26.08.2025, it is a whole half a year.- just promises.

Very very bad Auto1 office in Latvia

My experience with Auto1 Riga was extremely disappointing. The information I received at the beginning did not match the reality later on. Prices and conditions suddenly changed, and it felt very misleading. Customer service avoided clear answers and kept redirecting responsibility. Definitely not a transparent or trustworthy experience.

Serious transport delays, third-party vehicle use, and missing equipment

I am a long-term Auto1.com business customer. Since 2019, my company has purchased more than 150 vehicles via the Auto1 auction platform, including delivery through Auto1 transport services.

Over the past two years, Auto1’s transport and delivery process has become extremely slow and unreliable, causing operational delays and financial impact for professional buyers.

More concerning, however, are repeated issues indicating third-party use of vehicles prior to delivery:

Vehicles are regularly delivered with higher mileage than stated at the time of purchase and invoicing.

Fuel levels are often noticeably lower upon delivery, despite no use by the buyer.

In multiple cases, vehicles arrived with missing equipment, including spare wheels and jacks.

These discrepancies indicate that vehicles are being used or accessed by third parties before final delivery to the buyer.

This is particularly problematic given that Auto1’s own terms allow claims only if a vehicle has been driven no more than 50 km after delivery. In practice, buyers may already receive vehicles that have been driven or used by others before handover, effectively removing the buyer’s ability to file legitimate claims.

All such issues were reported to the Auto1 Baltic support team. Unfortunately, these reports were ignored or left without any meaningful response, and no corrective actions were taken.

For professional buyers, transport integrity, mileage accuracy, and vehicle security are essential. Based on my repeated experiences, Auto1’s current transport process fails to meet acceptable professional standards and exposes buyers to unnecessary financial and operational risk.

I strongly advise other business customers to exercise caution.

In my case

In my case, the vehicle was sold as having no mechanical defects.
After only a few hundred kilometers, coolant loss began.
Following diagnostics and engine disassembly, a cracked engine cylinder head was identified.
This is a classic example of a hidden defect.
The platform refused to accept the claim solely on the basis of a formal deadline, despite the technical evidence.

SCAM-like experience: Bought a car with disclosed “black coolant” — engine destroyed immediately after delivery! Refuse compensation!

I bought an Opel Astra 2.0 CDTI (VIN W0LPD8EN4D8018271) from AUTO1 Group on 25.11.2025, paid 27.11.2025, received 12.12.2025.
In the auction description they CLEARLY wrote:
• “Kühlwasser ist schwarz” (black coolant)
• “Ungewöhnliche Geräusche beim Starten und Fahren” (unusual noises at start and driving)
• “Keine VIN-Abfrage möglich” (no VIN check possible)
They knew the engine had MAJOR issues (black coolant = oil in coolant = blown head gasket or cracked block), but they sold it anyway as “Edition” without warning that the car is a ticking time bomb.
On 15.12.2025 — literally RIGHT AFTER leaving the originality check (KO) in Slovakia — at low RPM the timing belt snapped, massive smoke from engine bay. Video recorded and sent to them. Total engine destruction: broken rockers, damaged camshaft, full repair needed.
Repair cost: 726.30 € — invoice sent to them.
They refuse ANY compensation. Their excuse: “We mentioned black coolant and noises” + “Car is older than 10 years and over 150k km, no responsibility”.
This is NOT transparency — this is hiding catastrophic risk behind vague symptoms! Mentioning “black coolant” without saying “this engine is about to die any day” is deceptive. Age and mileage DO NOT cancel EU 2-year legal warranty for latent defects (Directive 2019/771)!
Now the car is half-dead, I’m out 726 €, lost time and money on repairs, can’t use it for transfers/taxi as planned.
AUTO1 — avoid at all costs if you’re a private buyer! They sell problem cars to dealers who know the risks, but for individuals it’s pure trap. Will escalate to ECC Slovakia, SOI and court. Shame on you!

Formal Complaint

Formal Complaint – Retaliatory Account Blocking by Auto1.com
Auto1.com’s recent actions raise serious concerns regarding retaliatory behavior against a long-term business customer.
Following the publication of factual and well-documented reviews on Trustpilot describing my negative experience with a vehicle purchased via the Auto1.com platform, my auction account was suddenly blocked without prior warning, justification, or formal explanation.
It was informally communicated to me that representatives responsible for the Baltic region were dissatisfied with my reviews and that “senior management had raised questions” regarding my public statements. Shortly thereafter, access to the Auto1.com auction platform was restricted.
I consider this conduct to be retaliation for exercising my right to freedom of expression and providing honest consumer feedback. Such behavior may constitute:
 Abuse of a dominant market position
 Unfair commercial practice
 Pressure on business partners to suppress negative but truthful reviews
This situation is particularly alarming given the context:
 I am a long-term business customer
 Since 2019, my company has purchased 156 vehicles via Auto1.com
 The reviews published were factual, detailed, and supported by documentation
 The issues described are not isolated incidents but reflect a systematic deterioration in quality, transparency, and customer support over the past two years
Blocking a customer’s account as a reaction to negative feedback undermines transparency, discourages legitimate complaints, and raises serious concerns regarding corporate governance and compliance obligations of a large, market-dominant platform.

Auto1 Scam!!! Provided Fake paint thickness measurements for car over 18 000 Eur price

Hi
We've been working with Auto1 auctions from march 2025. During this time, we've purchased more than 10 cars from them (with an average price of 14,000-16,000 eur). I can't say that everything was always perfect, but if there were defects that were not indicated in the description of the car, then these were minor defects that could be resolved for a few hundred eur.

But on September 16th we made the worst purchase on Auto1!!!

Stock Number: VD60864
Lexus NX-Serie NX 300h E-Four Luxury Line

On September 16th, we received notification that the Lexus NX 300h was available for sale, 129 000 km, 2 keys, No indication of accident! No indication of damages! No indication of repainted panels!

The thickness of all body parts is no more than 150 μm ( means no repainted parts) Without thinking twice, we click the buy it now button (We just had a client for this car).

To ensure the car is delivered as quickly as possible, we pay for it on September 17th.

Car payment: €18,134.00 Received 09/17/2025
Transport payment: €694.00 Received 09/17/2025

This is where the problems begin: 2, 3, or 4 weeks go by, and the car still hasn't been shipped. We email support almost every day, but they can't tell us anything concrete. They tell us, "Please wait, we'll contact the responsible department." A little later, the support team admitted to us that they had lost the temporary license plates or documents for this car in Italy.

In total, delivery took 2.5 months. The car was delivered only on December 3rd!!! (During this time, we of course lost a client)

AND HERE THE MOST INTERESTING THING BEGINS:

We receive the car with ONE KEY and FULLY REPAINTED (only the Tailgate is in factory paint).

And it's noticeable even without a paint meter device: the paint job is terrible, with paint stains on the rubber seals, moldings, and glass (Italian repaint quality) According to the meter, the paint thickness is 280-490 μm across the entire body. Terrible body gap Hood!!!

Within 30 minutes, I'm sending all the photo and video evidence to the sales manager. I call and say, "We need to return the car as soon as possible; we won't be able to sell this car even for 15,000 eur" (in Latvia, having a factory paint job is crucial, especially on such an expensive car).

The main thing I ask is please let make a car return as soon as possible, we have already lost 2.5 months on deliveries (that is, almost 19,000 eur of our company were frozen). I immediately said that no monetary compensation would satisfy us!!!

The sales manager advised on how to open a claim correctly.

And then we wait again, 2-3 weeks pass, still no answer, we write and call the sales manager almost every day. They tell us: please wait.

ATTENTION: only in January 13th we receive an offer : Refund of 795 Eur

WE ARE CATEGORICALLY NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS!!! WE NEED TO RETURN THIS CAR! IF ACTUAL BODY MEASUREMENTS HAD BEEN PROVIDED, WE WOULD NOT HAVE BUYED THIS CAR EVEN FOR 15,000 EUR.

There is probably corruption here; most likely, an Auto1 employee in Italy received a reward to provide fake body paint measurements!!!

We are suspending cooperation with Auto1. We do not recommend anyone to work with Auto1; they provide false information about the cars!!! If you buy cars from Auto1, do so for no more than 7,000 eur. Buying more expensive cars from them is a very big risk and not worth it.
