It's impossible almost to speak to anyone in customer service. They dont reply to you in the app and then on the chat function it's extremely long waits, if anyone even comes. I had the same experience as someone else where they said I have a late payment. I tried multiple times to get more info about where this debt supposedly comes from since all my payments went through and they didnt respond and then terminated my contract! Crazy!

The best provider for any student or a foreigner in Germany. They handled my contract change so swiftly, i didn’t have to lift a finger. Last year, they never sent an invoice/ deducted payments all year & gave me the entire bill in one go- turns out it was a tad bit too much for me but they were swift to give me flexible payment plan where i could decide how long i wanted to pay last year’s bill— via the chatbot!! All digital, & quick. Now i’m more aware and more confident about their services. The app now makes it 100 times better and more transparent.

I have been an Ostrom customer for years. I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but lately my experience with them and their customer service has been absolutely frustrating. In November 2025, a direct debit attempt failed. I transferred the money manually right after being notified by my bank. Ostrom started sending me payment reminders, to which I each time responded by providing proof of payment from my bank account. When I managed to get someone to check my case, I was assured that the problem would be solved and it was due to a system error. Quote from the operator’s answer on the 28th of November, 2025: “Unfortunately, due to a system error, payment reminders were mistakenly sent for claims that have already been paid. We sincerely apologize for the confusion and any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Nonetheless, they kept sending me payment reminders, this time adding a late payment fee, to which I again responded by sending proof of payment that got ignored every time. Two days ago, I received an email informing me that my contract had been cancelled.
I immediately contacted them for clarification, receiving a response that had almost nothing to do with my question and that pointed at an outstanding amount (due to a Nebenkostenabrechnung that is currently being paid in agreed instalments) with the operator marking the ticket as “resolved”. I have contacted them once again, and still haven’t received any response. This is far beyond ridiculous; I have never had any problems over the years, and I always paid my bills on time. Unfortunately, given the malfunctioning of their customer care, my next step can only be through legal channels.

I've had a really good experience with Ostrom in the years 2023 and 2024, but since last year it has been a struggle to contact anyone. They say they will answer questions in 24hours yet they never do. They incorrectly cancelled my contract last year, and while attempting to get a new one, they have simply asked for more money, unreasonably. I'm sorry to leave a bad review, but I'm disappointed, and would very much like to receive the money that I have already sent you back, as you are automatically deducting an additional big sum from my account.

OMG!!! This is beyond frustrating. Ostrom has completely deteriorated.
I cannot believe that as recently as 2023, I was actively recommending Ostrom to friends. Today, everything is in shambles.
From incorrect debits of huge sums, to outrageous and clearly wrong meter readings (which they conveniently label as “estimates”), to utter unprofessionalism, endless email delays, no contact number for urgent issues, and absolutely no accountability - the list goes on.
They will send one invoice and debit a completely different, higher amount from your bank account. Their internal operations seem to run in silos: one person writes an email, another executes something entirely different. Mistake after mistake, with zero ownership.
A concrete example: Ostrom claimed I had overused energy and issued an extra invoice of €1,488.69. They explicitly offered a 6-month interest-free installment plan, which I accepted (clearly documented in multiple email exchanges).
Without warning, Ostrom debited €1,533.67 in one go.
When I challenged this with no response from them, I was forced to reverse the transfer. They then debited the amount again, this time €1,539.69, adding extra charges — no notification, just direct withdrawals, all while asking me to “please be patient” and wait for their response.
Even the invoices shown in their app were riddled with errors and inconsistent calculations, which they corrected multiple times after being challenged — always late, always wrong.
I was a customer from 2023 until the end of 2025 and never defaulted on a single payment. Yet my SCHUFA score dropped from 98.84% to 95.95%, most likely due to the reversal of an amount they wrongfully attempted to debit - an amount they later withdrew anyway, at an even higher value.
Even after paying all demanded amounts, Ostrom is still attempting to collect another unrelated invoice, without first clarifying the discrepancies I raised - despite my own calculations showing that I may have already overpaid.
This entire experience feels shady, reckless, and deeply unprofessional.
I’ll stop here for now. Legal action may be the only remaining option.

The switch to Ostrom was very seamless, transparent & efficient. I got timely emails on what’s happening and didn’t have to do anything.
Their app tells me everything there is and how my consumption will be mapped. I can also see how much CO2 I have saved by switching to green electricity, and I can see that I am already making an impact. As a new customer I will now explore their store and mostly also get a smart meter, so I can have access to their other services like connecting an EV and saving more money.
Everything is super transparent w/ keeping the customer in mind at each step. Their app also provides an English version which is super simple to use for expats like me!
