Our experience with Paul Davis has been a true nightmare.

Our experience with Paul Davis has been terrible. The first contact who worked with our insurance agency to approve the work was fantastic, and every other person we have come into contact with was truly awful.

The representative managing our work lied to us regarding when the mitigation work would start, leading us to sleep on the floor for over 2 weeks as we removed the furniture from our home in preparation. The subcontractor who performed the prep work confirmed this to me. Multiple people who were not seemingly affiliated with any company (no shirts with a company name, no company van, etc.) were in and out of the home with no communication to us. Workers who were authorized to be at our home would leave random people at our house with no warning or discussion, and when our PaulDavis represenative was contacted with our concerns, it took hours to receive a response while a stranger was in our home. We called the national hotline looking for help and they could not provide any answers and did nothing to remedy the situation.

Once the work was finalized, the billing process was a nightmare. It was unclear to us the total amount due, and after paying what was the only formally provided amount, a third invoice for an additional hundreds of dollars was requested. We were very communicative with Paul Davis about our concerns and stated we would not pay this invoice without clarity of where it stemmed from. While working this third invoice out with Paul Davis and our insurance, and after a month of no contact from Paul Davis, we were sent a notice of intent to lien our home.

The intent to lien was never mentioned to us in the process of solving the invoice discrepancy. We paid the invoice to make this nightmare end and avoid an unwarranted lien but remain appalled and disgusted at Paul Davis' business practices. We strongly do not recommend them for any work.

The nightmare began in December 2024

The nightmare began in December 2024, even after I gave them grace and they offered no compensation... a 2.5 week- 3 week job THEY SAID had me relocated for 8 months (all costs out of my own pocket), but they could care less. The lack of communication was outstanding as they had 4 different contractors in my home, but failed to notify me of any changes. I actually had to reach out to one of the contractors only to be told he had been laid off a month prior. They did such poor work that it required them to keep coming back to my home. They misplaced my key for the entire project and failed to place a lock box on my door as they told me they would do. The owner swore he would get it fixed and we would talk about the final balance, yet he avoided all attempts at contact. I never signed the final paperwork but they want to take me to court. They used all my materials and then had to rip it all out due to their incompetence. They damaged things in my home and I had to have a friend, who is licensed, come fix some of their work. Their customer service is horrible and I recommend anyone that sees them coming, RUN quickly to a better and more professional company before they take all your money and take you to court.

Paul Davis Restoration completely…

Paul Davis Restoration completely destroyed our trust. What was supposed to be an 8-week project dragged on for 8 months due to their incompetence. They sent unlicensed contractors who damaged our $3,000 leather sofa and loveseat beyond repair. Even worse, they allowed an unlicensed contractor's son to perform electrical work in our home - a serious safety hazard that required complete rework by a licensed professional.

Not a good company

Ok
This company was recommended by Bill Hanna adjuster for Liberty Mutual. I was a bit confused by my house fire but my dog survived and I was out at the time so I just wanted to be able to get back in my house.
I asked Bill if I should stay there and got no affirmative or negative, just inquiries.

I stayed there that night and the next three days but left because of breathing difficulty’s.
I called Liberty Mutual and got a room through a company called MyKey. Bad room but I picked it so my bad.
By that time Paul Davis was on the seen. My first impression was the politeness and proper manners. So youthful and exuberant. That’s the good part. God bless em.
They kinda went through motions, none of which seemed to mitigate the toxicity or even the smell. Things remained soiled even after cleaning. Then they started coming late, leaving early and lunch was off sight miles away sometimes.
Then the lead female who was about the only one there that probably worked before because she gave orders and worked herself and answered my question got moved out and we were left with nobody for days. I’m still in the hotel then. Going often to the site which was vacant for days at a time. Machines running not venting anywhere. My fridge was left unplugged and all the food rotted. So eating out became a necessity. They broke so many things in their cleanup. I kept asking to see the project manager that I met 1 time and he was very arrogant unlike his subordinates. I find out later he was fired so I can see the mismanagement or lack of management. One day like the day they came, they were gone. I think we were down to 2 workers from first day 5. Almost all different doing dishes and sweeping floors and I imagine some smoke odor removal.
They had a truck near the end that we loaded stuff in to get rid of. I left instructions to take pictures of everything going. Well they had rugs professionally cleaned ( their words) that were meant to discard and discarded still I don’t even know what neither do they because there were no pictures of them being loaded. No list adhered to. Just a whoops moment ….by them in essence.
I get a message from Liberty Mutual that Paul Davis of NH billed them 33 thousand dollars and Bill Hanna paid it, Paul Davis excepted it. The check went to somewhere in Florida. I was never asked about the mitigation. Bill Hanna never investigated the property. The invoices were never seen by me. I was told by Hanna that it’s none of my business. My policy, my house, my fire. But not my business. When I asked Nathan of Paul Davis what the heck was going on he seemed taken aback. I asked him what he actually thought it was worth he said the amount that was paid. I kinda lost hearing after that because it’s a den of thieves.

I was never told it was still toxic and got a rash on my hand that lasted until my painters sanded woodwork , walls and washed them with industrial strength solution. The rash went away 3 days after they finished the prep. Liberty Mutual refused the 22 thousand painter price for 7 rooms painting and doing Paul Davis mitigating over. The whole thing got messed up with Paul Davis co

Paul Davis in NH uses Illegal Workers who speak zero English

On Jun1 1st, 2025 I filed a claim for water damage after a refrigerator repair went bad, Paul Davis out of Hampton NH was recommended my Liberty Mutual for the Dry-Out and they did a decent job. So, I hired them to also do the Restoration, also in June but at the time, they let me know it would likely take 2 months before they could start because of the backlog of projects. But they dropped the ball in August by not following the claims request properly with Liberty mutual resulting in a month delay so we expecting to now start the job in September, but they dropped the ball again on ordering the materials leading to another month delay. Finally, I got a notice that they would start the job on Oct. 20th at 8:00am but at noon I called them since no one showed up and they said they had a truck issue and would stary on Tuesday 10/21 at 8:00am, but again no one showed up, at 10:30am a Hertz rental truck showed up with 2 men who spoke zero English. I did my best to communicate with them but the only word they could speak in English was floor. They called their boss on the phone who was a subcontractor and he let me know they were here to do the setup. I asked who was going to provide these men instructions and was told that he would be out to my place tomorrow. So, I went inside, called Paul Davis, spoke to RJ the project Manager, who seems to think it was not an issue that they could speak zero English and could not verify if these men were even legally able to work in NH, USA and he said he would check. In the 5 minutes it took to have that call, the 2 men unloaded the wood flooring and left. Later that day, I got a Text from the Project Manager, RJ, that the contractor would not be showing up on Wednesday 10/22 as they needed to find a new crew and would be in touch. On Wed, 10/22 I called Nathan McCuster, the GM, who also had no issue with the fact that they outsourced work to illegal aliens but would look into the project and call me back on Thursday with a plan. On Thurs, 10/23, after 5 months of waiting to start the restoration, Nathan McCuster called me back to let me know they would refund the downpayment and they were no longer interested in completing the project. I asked for a reason and they said they didn't have to give me one, stating this was just no longer a good fit for them. So, now I am having to start the process of locating a vendor to do the restoration after wasting everyone's time for the past 5 months. Paul Davis is Unreliable, operating with contractors that sub out work to illegal Aliens, and completely unprofessional in their communications, commitment, and piss poor customer service.

Worst experience with contractors

Worst experience with contractors. My Duplex was hit by hurricane Helene, which was in September of last year. They did not complete the project which should have been finished more than 6 months ago. When we reached out to have them to finish the repairs they ignored us for months. We messaged them more than 10 times via text, call, and email with no response. Please do not choose these contractors if you want a good repair in a timely fashion. Not only was the project lack luster, but I lost months of rent due lack of accountability.

HORRIBLE

Our insurance company chose Paul Davis Restoration (41610 Reagan Way) to come to our home to mitigate a leak. We assumed this referral meant we’d receive professional, ethical service — unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience. Overall, this was one of the most stressful home repair experiences we’ve ever had, and we would never use this company again.
Our project, which was estimated at 8 weeks, ended up taking approximately 7-8 months due to repeated delays and mistakes by Paul Davis. Here are just a few issues that we experienced.
*They sent an unlicensed contractor to our home.
*They decided that to do the flooring they needed to move my leather sofa and love seat. The techs who were sent to take the sofas to the garage, dragged them so severely against the entryway door that they pulled the material off both the sofa and loveseat. The sofas had to be sent out to be repaired, and this took approximately three months.
*They allowed the unlicensed contractor’s son, who was also unlicensed, to do electrical work on our home. This left us in fear for our lives and had to be redone by a licensed electrician.
*The recessed lights that were installed by the unlicensed contractor were so bad it took, five months to get to a reasonable accommodation, but still not great. Something we now must now live with.
*While reinstalling our dishwasher, they broke a valve, flooded the new flooring that had just been put in, and they had to purchase a new one.
*While reinstalling my refrigerator, they informed us that it was faulty but that they could complete a change order and fix it for an additional charge. We called an actual plumber who told us the refrigerator was fine and that the supposed refrigerator “issue” appeared to have been caused by Paul Davis loosening the valves. Good thing we checked with a reputable plumber.
*The contract stated that upon request, they would provide contractor license information. We requested this about 6 times and in writing, we are still waiting. I believe we received one or two which leads us to believe that all the other contractors may have been unlicensed, but we will continue to wait and see.
*The project manager (this term is a massive stretch based on what he accomplished) Nico, his oversight was coming to the house once a week and shucking it up with the contractors while asking about their weekend and kids. His visit would conclude with a cursory glance at the house and statement that “everything looks great, even as the paint from the unlicensed contractor peeled from the fireplace”. The project manager rarely inspected the work and did not address quality concerns we repeatedly raised.
*They removed furniture from the house to do flooring but once flooring was complete, we were told they would not move it back unless we paid more money. This was the opposite of what we were told when we signed the contract. They told us (that part of room reset fees, if they took anything down (wall art, mirrors) they would replace it upon completion, this did not happen either
They sent us an unlicensed contractor to resurface our kitchen ceiling. This contractor sprayed the ceiling without coving anything in the kitchen, every item in our kitchen was covered in a white texture to include the refrigerator, stove/oven, the walls, the floor, sink, etc. Also, they did not clean it up after two months, our family cleaned up the mess they created.
Per the contract they were supposed to clean up after themselves, but this was minimal. I have photos of everything I had to clean.
They left paint on doorways
They left paint on laundry room items.
They left paint on the cement in front of my house.
They left paint on appliances.
They left paint on my living room sofa and love seat,
Good luck everyone.

Absolute nightmare

Not only they did a horrible job and everything fell apart and my new window flooded the room on the first night - their crew caused serious damages to my condo building. They “fixed it” but instead of covering the cost of repairs, they tried to extort the money from my insurance and added it to my claim. Since my insurance denied the payment, now they are endlessly harassing me to pay for it. Yes - for damages caused by their completely incompetent crew. I really doubt these people have any professional qualifications and most of them looked like high school kids. Their management is absolutely rude and trying to communicate with them is just pointless. I’m really hoping for a class action lawsuit, because I’d love to jump in on that. The worst company of any kind I’ve ever had to deal with. I was reading tons of complaints and horrid reviews about them since and can only wonder how they are allowed to operate. It’s a scam.

Paul Davis has been completely slow on…

Paul Davis has been completely slow on returning my items from smoke damage. They broke the glass out of my grandmother's China hutch. They said they would replace it, but I haven't been able to see it because I do not have my property back. Paul Davis is the equivalent to a lawyer that chases ambulances. I strongly would not use them to restore a dog house.

This company hires thieves to move you.

They hired Hispanic men who did not know how to speak English and who stole my clothes and broke my property when they were supposed to move me from one place to another. This was the worst move I have ever had in my life. I do not recommend this company for anything.

Do NOT HIRE, buyer beware

My comments are much like others here with a horrible experience. We live in the Seattle area, had a water leak which damaged our kitchen, living room, various other areas. Paul Davis came in at the request of our insurance company, quickly did the mitigation, so we of course selected them as our insurance company's restoration company. Then.... crickets! Project manager never materialized, endless delays, no written work scope, location owner MIA after repeated promises to call... endless, just as other have noted here. We switched contractors which I only can urge to others - do not use this company! Now I wonder why our insurance company is using as a preferred vendor, filed complaints with our state insurance commissioner, BBB about this company.

Poor Workmanship

I dealt with the office in Springfield, MA and they were horrible - beyond horrible. Some examples: They put up new sheetrock and you can see all of the seams because they loaded them up with joint compound. For that same new sheetrock, they didn't cut the spaces out properly for receptacles and light switches so it looks horrible - gaps, poorly spackled. They lost all of the caps to our antique baseboard heating and never replaced. They installed a bathroom door + jamb and before they put the molding on, I took a look and not ONE nail made contact with the studs - not one. Any sheetrock they put up to close up former openings did not meet the original sheetrock so they bow in - in all areas. Seams without seam tape. I walked into the bathroom while they were spackling and they were having a spackle fight with the site supervisor. They put pine wood above the shower insert to finish it off. And I could go on and on. The owner toured our site and apologized for the poor workmanship but didn't do anything to fix it. We fired them but I'm still finding their screw ups.

Paul davis is a nightmare

My family and I had water back up in December. My insurance company had recommended Paul Davis of Santa Clarita, CA, since they completed my mitigation. In February, my husband was admitted to hospital due to brain hemorrhage and at the time I was eight months pregnant and I chose Paul Davis/JP Moss to repair my home. I informed Paul Davis/JP Moss that I will have a family member to complete the drywall. Paul Davis agreed and sent me change order to receive over a 10000.00 credit. So the end of April I noticed that my door Jambs, tile was installed and paint was not completed and I sent them 40,430. The project manager inform me that I had to get another draw in order to complete project, so I emailed CEO to complain and the project resumed. Now my insurance sent checks that needed to be endorsed by my husband, me and mortgage company, so it takes a while to get draws. So now my husband and I was recovering from our medical illness. We started going to the home a lot more and one day we caught employee sleep, using our microwave, going through our items in Garage with our personal items and saw our TV tray and chair and the end of garage where he sat and ate lunch. My neighbor was witness to employee sitting eating lunch in garage. The last straw is when employee used our toilet that wasn’t connected and left his stool paper on toilet without the base being connected. The water leaked out on the tile. So this made me go through the estimate and I asked them if they send itemized list or recalculate the estimate, because I noticed things that they haven’t done and still was charging and also overcharging for items. They never addressed the recalculation, but continue to ask for more money, until I receive an email from kush Desai saying that recalculation is between insurance and him.
On May 29th my husband asked contractors workers and supervisors to leave and supervisor refused and called police. The dispatcher asked him, (supervisor Jason) to leave out properly and he refused. Then at that time I received and text from David Reyes stating if they don’t complete the work, they will not return our personal items. So we continued to let the workers work. The on the inspection the next day we explained everything that was wrong like our tile was uneven, vanity cabinet door did not open and now our kitchen sink does not work since the workers put grout in the sink. We told them that we don’t want anything to do with them and I received a text stating that I need to sign a certificate of completion since we don’t want them in our house.

Please read before hiring

We are writing this review to share our personal experience with Paul Davis Restoration of Southeast Missouri. Our goal in sharing our experience is to save even just one person from the headache and heartache that we experienced. We had a sewer back up in our basement with extensive damage and loss. Our insurance company was contracted with Paul Davis which is how we ended up with them on our project. There are three parts to this project mitigation, personal property and restoration. The mitigation portion was the fast, easiest and smoothest portion. As we moved into the personal property phase things began to unravel. In our initial phase with personal property, Chris, who is co-owner of the business, came out to assess our property. He became visibly irritated and short because of the scope of the project. He left abruptly and angrily. I was so uncomfortable with that interaction that didn't want to be here with him without my husband. Communication became a major issue at this point. We were told by our insurance company (and our insurance company paid Paul Davis) that all our belongings would be sorted into salvagable and unsalvagable and the salvagable items would be packed, inventoried and moved to an off-site climate controlled storage unit. This is when they began trying to cut corners. They didn't want to move it off-site. They wanted to just shuffle it around the basement as reconstruction occurred. Then they offered an on-site, non-climate controlled pod. Our insurance company got involved and insisted on what they paid for, off-site climate controlled storage. When our insurance company got involved, Paul Davis became passive aggressive toward us. There were multiple times, at least 3, where they would be scheduled to come out, one of us would take off work and then they would no show and not call. Then they would want to show up the next day, after we missed work the day before! We were definitely at the whim of their schedule rather than the other way around. Our personal property was never properly inventoried. It was hauled out loaded on a truck and placed in an off-site storage unit. We were told that when things needed to be thrown out due to damage that everything would be run by us first. However, when our property was returned undamaged items were missing, damaged items were returned, what was submitted to insurance for reimbursement was incorrect and incomplete. We had many unaccounted for items that are just a loss to us. Most of this is due in part to our items not being inventoried, anything could disappear. The worst part was our children's keepsakes that were stored in waterproof Rubbermaid totes were thrown out without permission and for no reason. These were irreplaceable items. Gone. For no reason. As we moved into the final stage of reconstruction things didn't really improve. The quality of work was very poor. We had a different contractor doing work in our house who was appalled at the quality of work being done on the basement. He even offered to fix some of it for free. They installed baseboard and ran out so just left a 5ft area without baseboard. They removed a sewage soaked vanity and sit it on our brand new carpet. They installed the new vanity improperly and water leaked inside of it for 3 days whule we were out of town and ruined it. Leading to it needing to be replaced again. They sent the same person who installed it improperly to do it the second time until we insisted on a plumber. They abandoned all of the trash...old vanity, toilet and boxes for weeks. Telling us that they had taken on too many jobs and couldn't complete the ones they had started. A job that at most should have taken 2 months, took over 4 months, was not done well or completely and cost us thousands of dollars out of pocket. I would never recommend Paul Davis to anyone. If I could go back in time and choose a different company I absolutely would. Our insurance company is reviewing the case and considering dropping their contract with Paul Davis. Please think twice before hiring them.
