Awesome Mentor
My son's mentor Shelton Lo was very helpful and understanding. Under his mentorship my son completed research paper on a difficult subject. He helped and guided us on each and every step of the research and is very patient. My son learned a lot during the research project.
If there were an option for zero stars
If there were an option for zero stars, I would choose it...
We had this company for the past year for my son's application. We paid around $12K for their junior package. Since my son is interested in Ecoomics, they connected us with an advisor and told us she knows a lot about applications in Economics. But for the past year, my son has repeatedly told me the adivor's knowledge is not even as good as his! This is what happened. Initially, they sent us a single comprehensive document on how to apply and a few useful links for the economics major (though those links can be easily googled). Then it's just one hour per month, a face-to-face Zoom meeting with the advisor. She does not have any knowledge in economics to provide any insight and feedback into the applications. Then, during the application season, we got some help from their editing team, but their effort was minimal, if not at all. I emailed them to explain the situation, but I didn't expect much from them. One lady emailed me back saying they were going to meet me, but that never happened, and I didn't expect it anyway. I've never written a public review before, but I feel this business is a total sham. Of course, it is just our experience, not sure about others...
Samantha was great to work with.
Samantha was great to work with. She promptly answered any questions we had and helped make the college application process smoother and easier to navigate. With her support, I'm grateful to have gotten into an Ivy Plus school that was my first choice.
I've worked with Samantha…
I've worked with Samantha Shepard-Guerinoni for the past four years and I have nothing but good remarks! In talking with my friends and their experiences with their own counselors, I really like Samantha's strategy and the feedback I got back on all of my essays. The mock interview was very helpful, and overall having someone to check in with, making sure you are on the right track is not talked about enough. There are so many moving parts when it comes to applying to college---so much more than just the application. Having her as a resource is something I really appreciated and it has payed off. Right now I have heard back from three schools and have gotten into all of them. Two of them are in fact Top 20 schools. I cannot recommend her enough!
Samantha was amazing!
Samantha Shepard-Guerinoni was my daughter's consultant and she was amazing! She helped us navigate through the admissions process and was also instrumental in the period leading up to applications season helping us decide which classes to take, which activities would make the most sense for us to be involved in.
Happy to say that my daughter got accepted into Stanford REA!
We have used Solomon Admissions twice now!
We have used Solomon Admissions Consulting twice, a few years ago for our son and now our daughter. Adrienne Gilbert is nothing short of amazing! She made the college process easy and enjoyable. She was extremely supportive and dedicated to our son's success a few years ago, he was admitted to his top university! We were so pleased with the process and outcome that we did not hesitate to reach out to Solomon and Adrienne again to help our daughter who was recently accepted early decision to her top 20 school!! Our family is forever grateful to Adrienne and the amazing Solomon team for all their assistance during such an important time in their lives and achieving admittance into their top universities!
Very Helpful
Kelly was extremely helpful in navigating the college admission process and helping our student understand what colleges are looking for and what to prioritize. Also, when there was a question that was a bit unclear, she didn't hesitate to survey her colleagues at Solomon, so that we had the benefit of the whole group's opinion. Finally, she was very patient and a pleasure to work with. She made the college admissions process as enjoyable as it could be. Thank you!
The best counseling you can find
We signed up our son in his freshman year in high school. The results were fantastic. Now as a senior, he was accepted last month to his first choice school, Columbia, as part of the ED (early decision) selection process. Cathleen Sheils is one of the best counselors in the country. Her insights and intuition on how students can build their profile throughout high school is exceptional. Most importantly, she invested the time and put in the work to help our son discover his interests and passions throughout high school and helped him connect the dots looking backwards so that his journey came together looking forward.
Excellent Advisors
Solomon has been an excellent guide in navigating the application landscape. Understanding that our child needed a strong narrative allowed her to choose appropriate classes in high school and enhance her strategic positioning. We are especially pleased that our child's essays were reviewed by a team of editors. We worked closely with Samantha Shepherd-Guerinoni, who is exceptionally professional and readily available. She answers emails quickly and offers advice regarding course selection and summer programs. Our child felt comfortable reaching out to Samantha at any time during the four years we worked with her. She was especially helpful in preparing for interviews. I have recommended Solomon to many of my kids' friends.

Matthew Tatelman - Highly Recommend
Matthew Tatelman at Solomon Admissions Consulting has been an exceptional partner to our family throughout the college admissions journey. From the very beginning, he brought a level of expertise, rigor, and discipline that immediately gave us confidence in him and the overall process. He is results-oriented, highly organized, and extremely knowledgeable about how admissions work today.
Matthew’s deep professional experience in academic advising, combined with his background in reading college applications at highly selective schools, enabled us to gain a clear and realistic picture of what to expect and how to help our daughter prioritize her time and extracurricular activities with purpose. He truly knows what matters to admissions committees and guided our student in building a cohesive narrative that reflects her strengths, passions, and aspirations. Additionally, his insights brought structure and clarity to what can otherwise feel like an overwhelming and confusing experience.
Matthew worked directly with our daughter throughout the process while keeping us in the loop through email and regular family touchpoints. He was consistently responsive to our questions and concerns, yet he always ensured that our daughter’s needs, voice, and goals remained the priority. That balance—supporting the family while empowering the student—made the experience feel both collaborative and student-centered.
Solomon’s approach to the college admissions process is thoughtful, comprehensive, and deadline driven. From building a cohesive resume at the start of the engagement to completing the Common App and supplemental essays, the team’s focus on excellence is tangible at every step. Our daughter always felt supported, guided, and pushed toward a higher standard.
We highly recommend Matthew Tatelman and Solomon Admissions Consulting to any family seeking expert, strategic guidance through the admissions process. We are truly grateful for Matthew’s support in helping our daughter be admitted to her Early Decision school.
Admission to US undergrad
We are based in India and worked with Ms. Cathleen Sheils at Solomon Admissions Consulting for our son's undergraduate admission to US colleges. It has been a very pleasant and enriching experience to work with Ms Sheils, as she was completely engaged to understand our son's interests and his strengths and future plans and accordingly suggest the relevant major options and aspects to be worked upon to strengthen his profile. During the journey of 2 years, when his trajectory went through ups and down, Ms Sheils was extremely helpful in navigating the same, pivoting the application and addressing the difficult areas. We also appreciate systematic and organized approach followed by Ms Sheils and the way she guided us how to approach each specific aspect of the application and the essays. We are extremely satisfied and grateful to have walked this significant journey with Ms Sheils. Thank you Ms Sheils and Solomon Admissions Consulting for all your support.
Good experience with Solomon admissions consulting
We used Solomon Admissions Consulting for our daughter who was a rising senior. We are very pleased with our consultant Ms. Olivia Han. She was extremely professional throughout the whole process. Olivia always answers our emails in a timely manner. During our scheduled zoom meeting, she always explained things in details, never ever we felt we were rushed. She was very knowledgeable about the whole college application process and helping my daughter setting up a well balanced college list based on her stats.
Overall, we are satisfied with Solomon’s service and positively benefited from hiring it as our consultant for college application.
Peter Zimmerman is an incredible advisor!
Our experience with Peter Zimmerman was life changing in our daughter's admissions journey. Mid junior year, we realized near-perfect SATs, grades, and a pile of impressive extracurriculars are likely not enough for admission to Ivies and T20 schools—because schools look for a narrative theme tying all a student's activities together. Although Solomon emphasizes 'strategic positioning' in their online material, Peter worked with our daughter to craft a narrative that felt like it perfectly represented who our daughter was, making her unique traits shine through. Many STEM families likely over-emphasize every technical EC success in their student's record, but Peter taught us that top schools also want to see a deeply humanistic side of even science and engineering students. With this guidance, Peter helped our daughter craft a compelling narrative that truly embodies her most unique qualities. The help from Peter in planning essays was incredible—and once again, we saw our daughter's true profile reflected in the applications she submitted.
I'm thrilled to say our daughter was accepted to an upper-tier Ivy that was her first-choice school, and she can enjoy her second senior semester now without the stress of college admissions hanging over her. Thank you to Peter and Solomon for this wonderful outcome.
Highly recommend!
My son worked with Matthew Tatelman for the past cycle. We could not have asked for a better human to guide us through the entire process. He was attentive, detailed, insightful, and provided caring and thoughtful advice throughout. He was responsive to all of our questions and concerns and went out of his way to address urgent issues that popped up. Our son was accepted ED to Brown, and if we could give 10 stars, we would! Thank you Matt and Solomon!
Amazing!
I had an awesome experience working with Matthew Tatelman during this admissions season. He always gave honest, personalized advice on both my application strategy and writing and I am very grateful for his guidance. Mr. Tatelman and Solomon were extremely helpful in relieving stress and answering any questions I had. Highly recommend!!!
Exceptionally good experience with Will
Our son worked with Will Giles on his college admission since his sophomore year. Our goal was for him to get into an Ivy League school while pursuing what he’s truly passionate about. From the very beginning, the process felt thoughtful, organized, and methodical.
* Will helped us figure out appropriate extracurricular activities, internships and publications opportunities
* The college list was selected in partnership with our family while still allowing our son to drive the process
* We always knew the deadlines for every college essay and application, and Will kept the entire process on track.
Ultimately, our son got accepted into his first-choice school! We could not have done this without Will.
What made the process so positive was that it never felt pressured. There was no rush to make decisions, and most importantly, many choices were made collaboratively between our son and his advisor. Having a non-parent professional nudge our son in the right direction was critical for our sanity!
We wholeheartedly recommend Will!
Our experience with Solomon Admissions…
Our experience with Solomon Admissions Consulting was transformative, providing a level of expert guidance we didn't think was possible. From day one, their team of former admissions officers provided an 'inside scoop' that completely reshaped our approach to the 2025 application cycle.
What stood out most was their unwavering support in structuring a personal research project tailored to my daughter’s specific interests. Solomon didn't just give advice; they provided a roadmap that allowed her to showcase her initiative and immense strength in Chemistry. They guided her through every phase—from the initial hypothesis to the rigorous process of publishing her research in a professional industry magazine. This level of specialized achievement became the 'hook' of her application, demonstrating a level of Intellectual Vitality that elite colleges crave.
The guidance throughout the entire process was seamless. Our consultant, Cathleen Sheils was a constant advocate, helping us navigate everything from 'Strategic Positioning' to the final polish of her supplemental essays. They turned a stressful, complex journey into a structured path to success. Thanks to Solomon’s high-touch approach and strategic brilliance, my daughter’s profile was elevated from a strong student to a published researcher with a compelling, unique narrative.
Peter Zimmerman is a Star
This review is for Peter Zimmerman.
Peter has exceptional insight and skills into the college admissions process surpassing every and any expectation you may have. He is gifted at balancing necessary feedback while also highlighting a student’s strengths. All of his recommendations were spot on. Peter became much more than a superb college advisor to our family, he became a highly trusted ally and collaborator. Our daughter absolutely loved working with him he has all the excellent personal traits that takes this highly complex process that can understandably be stressful to a level of organization and yes - even enjoyment. We knew Peter was the perfect match for us. He is both a fantastic person and professional. Peter is so thoughtful to not just randomly choose the best schools based on name alone, rather his guidance focused on the best fit for my daughter with consideration for where she will be very happy long term.
Our daughter is absolutely thrilled to have been admitted into a top Ivy League school.
