What can I say..I was blown away by how well my guitar sounded and played after John worked his magic on it. I brought my Sigma acoustic in for a setup to lower the action, replace strings and do a general check over of the neck and fretboard. He found the perfect sweet spot for a low, playable action and a beautiful sound. Thank you!

I was only able to play chords up to the fifth fret until John fixed my Spanish guitar - above the fifth fret the sound was muffled. Now I can play chords up to the twelfth fret and the sound is decent. John also took the time to give my guitar a really good clean. Thanks John!

I needed the bridge lowered, strings changed and tuning pegs tightened on my electro-acoustic. Brilliant service, great knowledge and John is a lovely guy. He went out of his way to fit me in. Reasonably priced. I'll be there again. Highly recommend!

I couldn't get rid of persistent fret buzz despite having adjusted the action height and truss rod and installing a new bridge.

John @ String King did a great job - re-drilling the slots for the bridge posts, re-installing and adjusting the bridge and setting up my 1970s Greco EG500. Now sounds perfect!

As well as being a lovely guy, his prices are very reasonable and turnaround is super quick. Highly recommend!

John set up my beautiful Fodera Monarch bass to perfection. He listened to my requirements and restored the instrument to its former glory! He gave me such a fast turnaround too because I needed the bass for a gig and I was so grateful for this! The bass feels so wonderful to play now and sounds great too. Thank you so much John! I took a couple of Strats to John and he did a fantastic job. He’s a really nice guy who genuinely loves guitars and I will definitely be going back to him next time I need work done.

Replaced plastic nut on my MIJ 80s Epiphone Casino for a Graphtech nut also filed saddles on the bridge. The Bigsby can now be used without going out of tune.

I don't often write reviews but the service I received from John warrants the effort! I have just taken possession of what is basically a factory set Martin 000X1SAE and the action desperately needed to be fixed. I had a go at it myself and although my attempt was decent i ended up with some of the dreaded fret buzz. I looked online for a professional saw the stellar reviews on trust pilot and called John. He told me to bring it in that afternoon and because the work was fairly straightforward for someone who knows what they are doing he did me the courtesy of doing it whilst I waited. First class workmanship by a real professional (he has a great little workshop) and the price was extremely reasonable. Really satisfied and most importantly the guitar is now set up to be played... Very exciting stuff! If you need any work done this guy is your man. Thanks again John.

Most importantly the service is excellent....plus good value and friendly. I wouldn’t hesitate to trust John with any guitar repairs or changes I need.

The added bonus.....for anyone who likes exercise and scenery...is that it’s possible to walk to the workshop alongside the Thames from North Greenwich tube station. Great views of the Thames Barrier. Takes about an hour and you need Google Maps when you get within 0.5 miles of the workshop as the route leaves the riverside.

String King John is such a gentleman, I found him such a pleasure to do business with.
From start to finish communication was excellent which put my mind at ease knowing my 2 bass guitars were in safe hands.
He done a fantastic job in setting them up and done exactly what I asked, I didn’t have much time for this work to be done but nothing was too much trouble for John and we came in bang on schedule.
His workshop is in a peaceful location beside the River Thames which felt really secure; I wouldn’t hesitate in using his services again.

Nice fellow who knows his job, nice attention to detail - fixed a wiring issue and a very good refret with a nicely cut nut and board level nice to support a luthier locally - very reasonably priced as well

Excellent service and communication and fast turn around. John has done setups and repair work on two of my guitars so far and I will be taking him more. Solved tuning issues at the nut that made it unplayable. The other he shielded and gave a proper set up which solved fret buzzing and now plays better than ever.
I have had a lot of set ups over the years at different places and John is by far the best and listens to everything you say and doesn’t make assumptions about what you want. I can not recommend him enough.
