NYSEG only cares of profit and not it's customers.

I called NYSEG customer service asking why my electric and gas bill was $1000 for the last 3 months and all the representative cared about was when I would be paying the $550.00 bill I got for January. They only give you 2 weeks to pay. SHAME on you NYSEG. You only care about making your overseas CEO millions in bonuses.

NYSEG IS THE WORST!

I’ve lived in Illinois, California, Kentucky, and New York, and NYSEG is by far the worst utility company I’ve ever dealt with.

What they’re doing is unacceptable. The price gouging is outrageous, the customer service is consistently rude, the threats are unnecessary, and the dishonesty is unbelievable. I understand we live in a capitalist society, and companies need to make money, but NYSEG goes far beyond anything reasonable or ethical.

This company should be ashamed of how it treats its customers. There needs to be a serious investigation into their practices, because what they’re doing feels predatory, exploitative, and completely out of line with how a public utility should operate.

They better not raise the rates

They better not raise the rates. I knew someone would come out of the wood work the minute us seniors found out about the possible increase to ss. They NYSEG have a lot of nerve when our bills reflect how much it cost to send us the power and it’s much more than our usage. I hope Trump puts both feet into this one. Between NYSEG and spectrum they can both go to hell.

A kind and helpful lady named Karen.

I called with some questions about new construction and getting hooked up, and Karen was extremely helpful and kind in the way she explained, this made me feel encouraged and more clear about what we needed to do and what to expect.
Thank you for the patient and informative interaction Karen!

This is the worst electric provider

This is the worst electric provider. Unfortunately they are the only available provider in my area. They have the monopoly and they know it. They introduced smart meters which regularly gauge us especially during peak season. Their "delivery" cost is totally arbitrary, they set it at whatever they need to cover their profit margin. Sometimes my bills are $150, sometimes they are $550. For a single family home with only two working adults who are never home (and extremely energy conscious) that's insane. There's no way we use that much. We shut off every light and rarely use utilities. Moreover, their online site is terrible and kicked us off autopay during a data migration. But they never informed us. I only caught it by checking my bank account to see if the payments had been going out. Nope... The three month bill was shocking. Now I can't resign up for autopay due to some glitch on the page. Customer service is ok, but they only work regular business hours and have no 24-7 live chat. I can't say enough bad things about this under-achieving company. If there was any alternative, I'd switch. If you are reading this review and you are an electric provider in my area, hit me up.

Their prices are terrible

Their prices are terrible. I wake up this morning to no power. I pay $300 a month for electric and I can’t talk to anyone about it. It’d be nice to let your customers know if there’s an outage.

The WORST company ever

The WORST company ever. An absolute scam. I can't believe this is legal. Reading all these reviews and experiencing the same robbery. I never signed up for budget billing but am being charged $300/mo for a home I don't live in. This is a PT home and we visit maybe 4 times a year for a few days. There is zero explanation as to why the monthly charge is that high. When I called the rep slipped up and goes "your monthly usage is only $33/mo I don't understand why you are being charged so much. So for 5 years I have been overcharged and all they offered was a credit of $166. I lost almost $6000 using this company. The website is down so you also have to just take their word.

WORST COMPANYEVER!!

WORST COMPANYEVER!!! BIGGEST THEFT COMPANY TO EXIST!!!
They charge you monthly according to what they feel like. I have a bigger house in a different city and my bills are way less then nyseg charges. There is Noone to call or speak to. I was being overcharged in the winter for electricity that wasn't used. I was not there in the winter and everything was winterised nothing was being used and I got a bill of over $500. And there is noone to talk to!!!

I wish I could give them no stars

I wish I could give them no stars. I set up auto-pay several times when I first moved in, and then rather than send an email or call me, which I listed as my preferred contact methods, when they weren't charging me for my bill they sent mail (which goes straight to the post office, not the address I was living in) and shut the power off without warning. Then they got me into a payment plan when I was moving out to pay off the bill, but when I shut service off they changed the terms of my agreement and cut my payment time back by over two thirds of the previous agreement even though they knew I was moving out at the end of the month. I cannot stress how awful they were to deal with and how little I recommend their services.

6 times our power has went out in 1…

6 times our power has went out in 1 month. 6 TIMES. They can't keep their grids up for anything. It gets above 80° and their system shuts down. It's hot with cloud coverage? Their system goes down. It's a nice, clear, warm day? Their system shuts down. NYSEG is a complete joke. Why are they a power company when they can't keep power going? And now they're trying to raise rates by 24% while they aren't capable of keeping the state with electricity 100% of the time. Absolutely joke of a power company

I've just started a service and I'm…

I've just started a service and I'm already concerned. My rate is over $500 and I have literally started service a week ago. I can't even log in and have tried contacting them several times but to no avail. It seems a lack of transparency and communication is causing issues.

Budget billing isn't affordable

Called about an increase on my budget billing and the lady told me they over billed me. Called back the next week to see what was being done with my bill and the new lady said everything was right, no over billing had occurred. On top of that, they billed me another amount to end the billing cycle. In three months, my bill, on the budget, went up $400.

As a follow up, I called back a third time and talk to a young gentleman In the billing department. He told me the lady I had talked to was absolutely wrong and there was a problem with my bill. He said they will make corrections and notify me. This guy took the time to look at my bills and understood there was a problem.

Website doesn't work

I'm trying to login and see my account area on the website due to a bill being multiples of what it should have been. When I login it tries to take me to the dashboard but it just shows a blank page. I tried this on both firefox and chrome.

Edit: It's been two weeks of this issue. I spoke to them today and they said that it's a known issue that they're having and that they did not have an estimate for when it will be resolved. How can a company of this size have their customer payment / service website down for over two weeks? No notification to users like: "The website is being updated, it should be resolved by x/x/x"

It's absurd

VERY DISPLEASED

This is the 4th time in a year they have "mistakenly" charged me double for one month, on top of that they are price gouging like crazy right now. December bill $150, January bill, $190, last month bill $227 mind you I have done nothing in changing the way I live other than LOWERING the heat. Some of us have a monthly budget and live practically paycheck to paycheck so we do the best we can to manage our money and save. Can't save when a company makes these mistakes and keeps raising the prices. DO BETTER! If its an app issue I know people personally who could fix that EASILY. So again, DO BETTER ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. ELON COULD FIGURE IT OUT I BET AND HIS ROCKETS EXPLODE MOST THE TIME!

Monopoly. Does there so called "estimating" for weeks then charges an absurd price. There lose of money is due to there lack service and the customer should not be charged. If I could switch I would.
