The Interior Design Institute's course is thoughtful and well planned. It follows a logical progression through the various components of the design process. This provides students the opportunity to work with the knowledge and tools shared in a meaningful way. It begins with the fundamentals and then slowly builds upon a central design project giving the student a chance to fulfill an entire design process from concept to completion. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in interior design.

I'm enjoying the interior design course a lot! Every module I've study is really interesting. The booklets to download are very well designed and easy to read. I can really feel how my designer eye is starting to develop. The only thing I would like to improve is the way the assignments are explained, I feel some of the aspects are some times hard to discover by yourself, I would like more videos showing how to do some tasks in a slower pace, there are some videos but, they are a little fast and it is hard to catch all the information from them. Anyway, there are other ways to find help throughout the internet, books, etc., asking your tutor is a good idea too. It's very fulfilling to create a design a see it come together.

I truly enjoyed my time as a student at the IDI. The assignments are thoughtfully designed and quite challenging—in a good way. Having prior experience in the field definitely helped me navigate the coursework; without it, I think some parts would have been more demanding.
Overall, I highly recommend the course. It provides a strong foundation in the basics while covering essential principles and practical knowledge that are important for becoming a well-rounded interior designer. You truly learn a lot, and the program pushes you to grow and think critically about design.

Excellent content and learning experience. I learned a lot thanks to my insightful mentor. I do think some design background is necessary. It's not for someone with no design or architectural knowledge.

I am so grateful for my experience with the program. Each module is very detailed and interesting. For example, lighting design wasn’t just about lighting aesthetics but also provided an education on electrical wiring, switches, and lighting based on room function and much more. So interesting! The feedback on my submitted assignments are also very detailed and much appreciated. As I near the end of the program, the modules guide the student into real world examples and exercises. All of the information in this program is well thought out and intended to set up the student for success in the field.

I was hesitant on beginning this course, not knowing if it would be worth it. I am almost half way through and I have learned so much valuable information already. My tutor is great if I need help and is always giving good feedback on what I do well and what I can work on to make it even better. I am taking a Sketch up/Layout program on the side, which I would definitely recommend taking to make some of the later on assignments easier and more professional looking. It isn't mandatory though and you can complete the course without any CAD program. So far I am really enjoying it and am excited for where this will take me!

Studying Interior Design with IDI has been an exciting and fulfilling challenge! While I am only halfway through my course, the flexibility to earn my diploma in interior design on my own time is exactly what I need. Being able to do the modules when my schedule allows is perfect for my very busy and unpredictable job schedule. So far, the course has been incredibly informative and provided me with a solid foundation for a career in interior design. My mentor is always quick to respond to any queries I have and marks my assignments within 24 hours, providing helpful feedback and direction for going forward. The site has been easy to navigate and the PDFs are comprehensive, well laid out and easy to follow. This course is all self-directed so it is best for people who are self-motivated. Some small challenges I have faced so far are that I am a visual learner so taking in the information strictly through reading has sometimes been difficult. While there are some video links included there are additional videos available if you upgrade to the masterclass. This could be a good option for those who also learn visually. Additionally, learning SketchUp for creating floor plans was outside of my wheelhouse and an unexpected challenge. That said, I have found ways to work through these challenges and it has provided me with a sense of accomplishment for doing so. I am looking forward to the second half of the course and can't wait to complete the program!

I really enjoy the course. Im not sure about my feedback at times. Much of it seems like a canned response. I would like more feedback on how to improve.
On the Facebook page, I see other student assignment "all dolled up". Mine is plain. For example, I used the forms provided for assignment 10 whereas others rewrote everything. Plus they got it in all 1 documents, like a booklet. I dont know how they did this.

The overall course and tutor feedback were great, and it was all easy to understand.
