Disappointed with the whole experience
Unfortunately, my experience with Warren Evans hasn't been good. I ordered a Sienna mattress which didn't fit my bed as it was too wide (1.5 inches too wide). When I called to discuss my options, I was made to feel like an inferior customer as I hadn't bought my bed with Warren Evans! And then the same happened in the store when I went to choose an alternative mattress. If you sell mattresses without having to buy the bed, it should not matter that I haven't bought the bed. My bed is a standard 5 foot king size bed but yet I was made to feel that it was my fault the mattress didn't fit. I didn't want a memory foam mattress but was told in the store that the memory foam would be best in terms of fit. I did try a couple out, in fact the sales assistant reassured my initial reservations about such mattresses, by saying that Warren Evans' memory foam mattresses 'didn't really mould' to your body. I trusted the sales assistant, of course. In the 5 minutes I tried the mattress, it seemed ok - you can't really tell in 5 minutes whether it will be ok for a whole night. It arrived and it fitted. However, after a week or so, I then developed quite bad lower back pains due to the memory foam mattress and the fact it did quite clearly mould to my shape! So I phoned to find out my options. Again, I was met with resistance and quite terse comments about the fact I hadn't bought my bed with Warren Evans when discussing the Sienna problem. I was eventually offered half my money back which I accepted. I ordered another mattress with a local bed company and am very happy with the result so far and, of course, it fits! I'm left feeling very disgruntled with my experience with Warren Evans - first of all for the constant comments about the fact I didn't buy my bed with them and then also the fact I was mis-sold the memory foam mattress. My refund has been dealt with swiftly and the delivery guys were very friendly and helpful. However, I expected a lot more from this company and am over £300 out of pocket from my experience. My recommendation if the first mattress is not fit for purpose would be to get a refund not an exchange. Disappointed.
