Apparently today is art posting day.

I finally got tired of the lack of consistent maps for Quel'Thalas, especially pre-3rd-war Quel'Thalas, so I put my graphic design skills to work. Because what good is having the skill if you don’t use it for the most frivolous things that make you happy?? And now I have maps I can reference for all my fics 😈

And yes, anyone who read the most recent chapter of @qwrite’s In Pursuit, these are the maps she referenced, and the provinces/marches.

Because @rachel3003 pointed out there was no Legend, I have now added one.

Region boundaries are the provinces/marches, which are my own invention and what sparked this whole map making thing. But for those who haven’t read In Pursuit (what are you waiting for, go read it) by @qwrite, they are as follows:

Many lgbt teenagers and young adults growing up on the internet today have socially conservative beliefs that they voice at all times that they got from their conservative parents which they’ve never challenged because they think the life experience of being gay or trans makes them politically progressive

This is why I hate it when people say something homophobic and then go “so you’re really accusing me, a whole ass lesbian, of being homophobic 🙄” like yeah

Just because you’re part of an oppressed party does not mean you cannot hold bias against other groups or members of your own group. Bias is learned and ingrained through society and family and it takes real work to unlearn it. No one is perfect, no one is without bias and you are in fact going to fuck up now and again—what matters is if you learn from it and grow.

Also, I forgot how abruptly Lena’s Newfoundland arc ends. Like, there’s zero closure between Lena and Peggy, we don’t know how long Lena has been training (less than a day, judging by a lack of costume change), and Lena leaves abruptly to get back to NC for a crisis she doesn’t even help with!

so I read the article and the story is both less and more insane than it sounds.

basically, there’s been an ants’ nest near a vent shaft of this abandoned Soviet bunker for decades. the nest spilled over into the bunker itself at some point once it was abandoned and there was no way for the ants to make their way back up to the nest, no queen but a constant supply of new colony members raining down from above, and no source of food in the bunker other than the corpses of their fellow ants.

fast forward to some scientists looking for bats that stumble on what’s basically a post-apocalyptic ant society. they go “holy fuck” start studying, and observe that, all things considered, the ants still pretty much act like regular ants doing regular ant things.

fast forward some more, and the scientists feel like they have enough data from observing the colony as-is, so they decide to try an experiment. they put a little walkway between the bunker colony and the og colony in the vent shaft so the bunker colony members have the option of leaving and rejoining the og colony.

spoiler alert: every single ant in the bunker immediately nopes the fuck back to the colony in the vent shaft. within days the bunker is completely empty. the scientists leave the walkway in place so when more ants inevitably fall back down the vent shaft they can just climb back up instead of starting up the cycle anew.

tl;dr it’s not “oh noes evil ants are on a rampage”, it’s “ants forced into a horrible situation to survive get to go home”
