A downloadable visual novel for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android

9:22 is a mystery visual novel set in north america in the year 2010.

Spencer, a college freshman and chronic insomniac, struggles to keep his new life together. Three weeks in and he's all but given up on making new friends, having new experiences, and everything else the recruiter claimed he could expect. Nothing seems right that morning. He oversleeps, gets denied entry at the school's gates, and only manages to sneak in thanks to a sophomore he'd never met. On school grounds, things don't seem any better. A student had been murdered, and Spencer is forced to investigate when it becomes apparent that the victim was him.

This visual novel is safe for work, but does contain some adult situations. Were it a TV show in the US, it would be rated TV-MA.

Spoilers(?)

I wonder if there's an answer to how it all works that we can discover when rereading it

fire shit

(+1)

top ten things i've ever played

(+1)

Mindfucked. I like it :D

What's the word count of this game?

(+3)

first found out about this visual novel about 4 years ago, and now, coincidentally, about a year after the final release I've decided to finish it. I really loved it, from start to finish, I feel that my brain chemistry has been changed by it, and now all I can think about is how I wish Cockhole had more of an internet presence, I'd love to see more of their art and keep up with any future projects they may have.

ps: I need to see fan art of ian and spencer asap

(+2)

Just started playing/reading this, i absolutely love it, so many questions, such good writing! amazing art! i cannot express how good this is!

(+2)

kind of spoilers

ok so i'm not mad or anything, if anything it's quite refreshing to have protag not have any romantic inclinations and instead be perfectly fine with Beautiful Friendships, but you make me kiss cute boy and im just supposed to forget about it? that's evil

in all seriousness, this was genuinely incredible. I loved near every part of this and it's really nice having a limited cast? it's makes everything just so much more Important i think and the story also kind of has a way of showcasing the scenes that are Really Really important with the 3D renders and all. those are awesome btw ian's car scene is by far my favorite loved Loved that. as many others have said, peak fiction, and it is in no way an understatement when repeated. if you make any more stuff in the future, I will be on that shit Immeadiately <3 good shit CockHole

Hi, I have some questions about this game. First, is it choice based or kinetic (choices don't matter/no choices)? How long would a single playthrough take on average? It is tagged as gay, but there is no mention of romance in the summary, is there a love interest?

Hope you have a good day :)

(1 edit) (+4)

It's such an amazing game. The art style is really really cute and I think out of all the furry vns I've played, this art style would be the best. The story is kinda confusing at first cause I was rushing through the story in one go (I completely regret that) but I think I understood it on replaying it. Even though the novel's finished, I kinda hoped there will be more romance but it's cool nonetheless!! I wish that there were social platforms from the creator I could follow if there's updates on more games or just plain art or maaaybe a sequel to the game on Ian and Spencer getting together, it would be nice to see more of them cause I'm literally so obsessed with the characters. Btw I tried to find the creator's patreon but I couldn't find it 😿 does anyone have it or that it already got removed

So uh, some days ago i discovered something funny about this visual novel that maybe you already knew, but i havent seen anyone point it out.

i was trying to translate this visual novel to Spanish so some friends could read it properly, and i discovered that in the file called "scene_80.rpy" (which is the scene where you first meet with Andrew) there is a series of different ways to call different genitals with no apparent reason? see, there are 101 different words for this.

which are:

penis

penises

dick

dicks

cock

cocks

dong

dongs

chode

chodes

and it keeps going! Maybe this is a part of all visual novels that i didnt know about? its a curiosity about it anyways.

(+1)

Well idk, i didn't know that existed i need to see it real quick hehe

(+1)

(some spoilers)

So, i read this visual novel like 7 months ago or around that time. At first, yeah, I liked it a lot and i became a fan. But lately i haven't stopped thinking about it, i just fucking can't stop thinking about this visual novel and how absurdly well written it is, i love it and I'm a huge fan!

Even though the story is already finished and Ian and Spencer didn't end up together, i feel like when a visual novel still has more to offer, or it's not complete and still has some more updates to come. I desperately need more 9:22 content, this visual novel is too good i can't even say how much i love it and the creator doesn't have any social media or anything to see any other creations to support! I genuinely hope the writer makes something next in this same universe and maybe hopefully with the same characters. I even translated the visual novel to Spanish to force some friends to read it so they could share the love i have for this visual novel! But none of them finished it... Hehe.

Anyways, i love this visual novel so much, absolutely life changing and absolutely PEAK

(1 edit) (+7)

lots of spoilers for the story, be warned!

click here for spoilers just feeling compelled to post some random thoughts about a point of contention i've seen floating around. some people don't like how spencer doesn't want to investigate the mystery, and that it's too "slice-of-lifey". if thats you, obviously youre valid and you dont have to agree with me. but heres what i think.

yes, spencer promised to help kurt. but even in that scene, in the moment, his thoughts/narration make it clear he doesn’t want to.

i think its actually kinda really interesting for a mystery vn to have a protagonist who prefers not having anything to do with it. from his perspective, a guy who you’ve only known for a few days whose friend gets killed (someone who they’ve only known for a couple weeks btw) asks you to help him. the victim looks like spencer but spencer copes and thinks its just a random, other guy, who happens to look like him or something. then, a politician guy who’s probably a murderer, asks you to NOT stick your nose into this business. what’s more important at this point? your life, or your promise to a friend you don’t even know that well?

so the first half of the vn focuses more on the protag’s social relationships, and personally i loved that part just as much as the latter half, because i think the dialogue is so incredibly well written. its very me-coded, in a way i can’t explain, i relate to spencer in a lot of ways. the characters feel real, and the vibes are palpable.

in the 2nd half, finally the protag gets forced in a situation where he HAS to start investigating. because clearly, spencer, you are directly involved, wether you like it or not. and dealing with the fact that his friends are very much into this mystery that he prefers to stay away from, makes for an interesting dynamic.

PEAK game. Up there with Echo as one of the best furry visual novels I've ever read.
Hopefully the devs give a bit of closure in a future update, but even if they don't, it's still an excellent visual novel.
If you're reading this, give it a try ! the story is AMAZING !

Is the "downloaded viruses" referring to the one download link in the comments that made the promise of having NSFW implemented? Dude, that was a scam.

Cockhole did say that he was going to add a NSFW patch, but it seems like he never got around to finish it (or hell, maybe he never even worked on it to begin with)

Honestly, I liked the vn more for the fact that no smut was present (even if I wanted to see the four main guys' cocks). Yeah, just look somewhere else for your vn with smut in it.

Ты скачал игру только ради порона?

12/10

The game is very good in its design, plot, characters and atmosphere. I would like the game to develop further, I would like it to be translated into other languages and I would like more games like this that you will remember for a long time. I will wait for further updates.❤️

*Буду ждать пока добавят NSFW content и перевод на Русский (из плюсов: я подучил английский язык во время игры)

(1 edit) (+2)

(+6)

10/10 would recommend.
The whole story was perfect, the ending was good, but will there be an episode to decribe what will happen to Spencer and Ian after the whole story? Now i just wanna see them kiss and live happily-ever-after too!!

So peak it destroyed me mentally

life changing peak

(+3)

I had been watching this project for a long while, and it regrettably took me a lot longer than I wanted to actually finish the final update. I am not sure if I had left a comment speaking my mind on it but truly 9:22 was unlike most anything else I had seen on here, and despite the story taking a much different form than I had anticipated, it is practically as perfect as I had hoped it would be. Spoilers ahead in a further review, so do be warned!

All of the characters are very well written, you handled what secrets you revealed when incredibly well, and you made the world feel alive. The dynamics between characters outside of Spencer, and the things that they know that we don't know until Spencer learns it as well is something that was always delightful to see. It is always unfortunate when writers don't keep the world moving outside of the main character, but with the premise of the setting it became crucial to nail how the world progresses when the main character isn't there. Andrew in particular was always delightful to read as he always had more to give in each one of his scenes, recontextualizing both our and Spencer's understandings of the events at stake. Really all of the characters are believable in the story as opposed to just being tools to progress the plot. To get into Spencer more specifically, I am not sure if this was your intention, but as someone affected by DPDR, the cuts between Spencer's casual living and the more dissociative or disorienting points in the visual novel were incredibly accurate in ways I haven't seen depicted in much of any other media. Further, the main question driving the novel regarding Spencer's relationship to the larger cast is such a fascinating dynamic that further suits the lens I had viewed the story, . And even further on that point, Spencer's relationship with the other version of himself is one that was very close to a personal conflict of mine, and while I cannot find the specific quote as of now, Spencer both identifying with and utterly rejecting the "other" version of him was just a delightful take to see in this story.

The concept of the visual novel is also handled extremely well! It is always delightful to see stories take unique approaches to their storytelling, and it was all the pleasant surprise here when the more grounded, realistic tone established in pre-update 0.10.0, was expanded upon into the alternate world, history-rewriting approach seen in the last update. Whenever working with mechanics narratively that alter time or reality in some major way, or other similar abstract effects, it can become very easy to lose the plot or consistency with the non-linearity presented, but you handled the premise extremely well, fully backing up the expectations I had when the story started to delve into the more fantastical elements. It was such a natural extension to the main story that I can't really see how it would have continued had the story not gone in the direction you took it.

Just a phenomenal little story I am glad to have discovered. Fully expect to replay it in the somewhat near future. Excited to see what you make next, and if you don't work on anything else then I hope this comment at least tells you what you probably already know, that you made an amazing visual novel :]

I feel like I arrived late at a party, I discovered this novel yesterday and read the whole thing, you seem so done with the proyect tho, and I get that. I love the story and more the artstyle, are you planning on future updates or it's 100% finished?

This VN is so good, much better than most others I've played. The writing is top-tier, and the characters have so much depth. It deserves a Netflix adaptation! One thing I will pick at is that this doesn't have that much romance. I spent most of the time waiting for something that never happened in the end. Also, poor Andrew getting told off by Spencer lol...

But, overall 9.5/10.

(1 edit) (+5)

This was an incredible journey, thank you for sharing it.

My only complaint is that there is no option(to my knowledge) to pay you for this absolute piece of art.

OH MY GOD. I REALLY REALLY LOVED THIS. I LOVED THE STORY. THE CHARACTERS. EVERYTHING. THE STORY WAS CONFUSING FOR ME BUT AFTER I REREAD IT, IT ALL MADE SENSE UOIGHEWJOIGOIWEGHWIOGWOKGGWEIOEGJH I wanna see more content of the silly boyos....... sob...

I liked the part with the french fry.

I've enjoyed this story immensely. The themes, the writing, the dialogue, the pace, the characters... I don't think there's a single weak link there. The ambiguity of the ending feels correct in a narrative where everything is so uncertain and I like how it was present in my mind for days after I've finished the story.

9:22
The clock says:
9:22

I... did not understand the story. I feel like I'm lost in the endless labyrinth of time travel and multiverse and casualty and other bullshit. I'll come back to this review to talk about the story once I've finished rereading through the whole game again. But for now, I have some thoughts:

This game is a masterpiece. Genuinely, this is one of the greatest visual novel of all time.

First, the art. Oh. My. God. The art. They are, hands down, the cutest characters I've ever seen. Everyone feels so soft and gentle and expressive and I want to see more and more of them! It makes me sad that there won't be anymore art like this. I would kill TWO person to get more art like this.

Second, the humor. Even though they aren't throat breaking laugh worthy, they still gave me a lot of chuckles. I especially love the moments where the art, gameplay elements, and music comes together to make a genuinely funny joke. Speaking of music...

Third, the soundtrack. Classic stock tracks never goes wrong. And as said previously, I love the way the bg music contributes the humor in some of the parts.

Last, the characters. I love everyone here, especially our boy Spencer and our other boy Ian. Everyone is such a joy to interact with. I'll kill like, one more dude if that means we can get more 9:22 content.

Anyway, I'll go replay this again. Still gotta find out what the fuck is happening. Feels like I'm pulling up some kinda SCP Exploration logs in a way, actually.

also the fuck kinda name is "cockhole"???

FINAL VERDICT:

9 / 22

The last time I was this glued to a VN was when the final chapter of Echo released. That was insane. Thank you so much for the food

also i love everyone's expressions. there are so many very good faces

(+1)

If you could theoretically have a "Groundhog's Day" like week, and nothing would matter the next day, I would honestly just fuck all the guys that I saw! (METAPHOR.)

Wow. This was the best visual novel I've ever read. And yes, I've read Adastra, Echo, Shelter, In case of emergency, etc... it's just that good. Absolute mindfuck. Absolutely raucous laughter almost throughout. Absolutely unabashedly loveable characters. Ian is baby. Kurt is fun. Even the side characters, Andrew... Fisher, were amazing. Everything just. Blew me away. Art, yes, that too. If this were priced at a hardcover book I'd buy it instantly. Oh my god. The micro-expressions. The amazing comedic timing. I still don't understand everything that's going on and that's the beauty of it. I think I'm going to reread it from start to finish to better appreciate all the twists. I think I may have to do so multiple times to truly understand what happened. Wow

Just finished rereading it.

It makes so much more sense. Enjoyed it just as much as the first time around, maybe more. I understand. Somewhat. Not everything, gods no. I think the only person who understands it all is the creator.

It's not the best visual novel I've ever read.

It's the best story I've ever read. Ever.
