I hate how the batfam fandom act as if "good" = "perfect". Those words are different, people. You can be good and make mistakes.

"Bruce isn't a good parent because he is flawed" Good doesn't mean perfect. Nobody is perfect, it comes free with being humans. Of course he has flaws, he is human! And stop implying that him being mentally ill means he cannot be a good parent.

The worst thing I have read tho, is "I don't think good parents exist " Hi, as someone who was abused by their parents, fuck off. A parent that is human and makes mistake is NOT the same as my mother that told me I was unlovable and she wouldn't love me if I wasn't her child. Some child have been KILLED by their abusive parents, do not dare say that every parent is bad as if a loving parent doing their best and failing at time because they are humans is the same as the parents that don't try and hurt their children repeatedly. Good parents exist, not PERFECT parents.

Same for other characters, btw. Dick doesn't have to be perfect to be a good brother. Him being jealous of Jason joining the family and so, sometimes a bit mean to the kid, is NORMAL. The vast majority of children (only child and youngest mostly) experiences jealousy when a new sibling joins the family, because they know that they now have to share their parents' attention with the newcomer. And, to a child, their parents' attention is a need. It's the parents' job to make sure this jealousy doesn't escalate. To me, it is way more realistic to have the latest batkid be jealous of the new one than to have them all liking each others on sight so they are still "good" siblings. But "good" isn't "perfect"!

It's the perfectionism talking that make you believe "good"="perfect".

more “had to be held back by multiple people to avoid a fight” in the JL except it’s a mess of powerscaling and awkwardness so when they do lose it, J’onn is holding Hal back by thinking really hard about yellow, Batman took Superman down to the floor one time and Superman let him because he was terrified of accidentally ripping Batman’s arm off, 4 separate League members tried to hold Diana back once from decking an asshole planetary ambassador and it only worked because Aquaman wedged his trident around her chest and it reacted strangely with her lasso. the speedsters just hold each others’ pinkies. no one is brave enough to try and hold Batman back except Superman and that always ends with him flying Batman somewhere high up so he can’t wiggle out and hurt himself. Etc etc

Barbara: Do you want to watch a movie later? I haven't see Knives Out yet.

Dick: Neither have I.

Barbara: Oh. I thought you would have. I though B was big into mystery movies

Dick: He saw it. He and Tim watched it. But Alfred banned it and the sequels from the house after.

Barbara: Why?

Dick: Neither Tim or Bruce figured it out before the movie ended. Almost had some breakdown.

Barbara: Over a movie?

Dick: Yes and that Jason solved murder. He didn't even watch the whole movie. Tim kicked the TV and Bruce started glitching.

Imagine the kids only realize Ace is a service dog when he starts alerting for Jason, and Bruce is just like, “I…are you okay?”

Jason, “Tf? I’m fine.”

Bruce, “Ace is alerting.”

Jason, “…what?”

Bruce, “Is it a panic attack? Jay, come sit down, please.”

And Jason gets tugged onto the couch before he even knows what’s happening. Ace lays across his lap, keeping his eyes on Jason the whole time, and the weirdest thing is that, yeah, he was about to have a panic attack. Damian was scuffling w Tim and the sound of Damian’s sword dragging against the ground had made him freeze. But…what the fuck?

Jason, after he’s calmed down, “So…since when?”

Bruce, w Jason’s legs across his lap, “Hmm?”

Jason, “Ace. Since when did he know how to do that?”

Bruce, “Oh, well…he’s my service dog.”

Jason, “…what?”

Bruce, “Funny enough, Harley recommended I get one, and when Ace showed up, it just…made things easy.”

Jason, “You’ve had Ace for years. How…how did we never know?”

Bruce, shrugs, “I never said anything about it. Didn’t seem important.”

Jason, “‘Didn’t seem important’, my ass! Oh my god, it makes so much sense now.”

Bruce, “I wasn’t hiding it…”

Jason, “B, hiding things is like second nature to you. You do it even when you don’t mean to. It’s why Dickie stresses open communication so much, and that includes things you ‘don’t think are important’.”

Bruce, “I…see. I’ll try harder.”

The placement of this dialogue over this specific set of images should have won an award. "Trust your partner to be there for you," and then Bruce crushes his homing beacon so Alfred and the others can't find his location. Bruce is dying, and he doesn't want anyone to risk coming after him. He trusts that they will come for him, and that's exactly why he crushes the homing beacon. His effort to save them isn't enough because of course Dick comes for him.
