She/her, 50s “geriatric”. Semi-retired English teacher. Huge 'Andor' nut who also loves Rogue One. Big on analysis and mostly on the r/Andor Reddit aka The Non-Toxic Star Wars Sub. Mutishipper and proud Bix fan (as written!) and Bixcassian champion. A few non Andor things but tbh it’s the main reason I’m on social media now as it has changed my life (TM) . Visual storytelling at its best

Cassian started out as a traumatised and selfish young man who loved a select few. Sometimes he made bad choices, all too often others chose for him. Slowly, the circle of people he cares about expands. He also finds hope in the midst of loss and conflict and wants to make a Home with the love of his life.

But that was never meant for him.

Sometimes the decisions others make for us help shape our path in life, whether we like it or not.

The Messenger is finally where he needs to be. The centre of the rebellion. In this beautiful shot – the symbol.

Bix chose the Rebellion and in doing that put the Messenger back on the path to where he needs to be.

the IFTAs are the only real awards, they're the only ones to rightfully nominate Genevieve O'Reilly

If you haven't cried at the end of the last episode of Andor then you haven't watched it. Go and do it.

In Arthur's fabulous video, he refers to Cassian as 'lonely'. I can't decide if that's the right word. Yes, he must be lonely on the most basic level - he has lost his home and the people he knew - but Maarva and Clem loved him fiercely, Brasso and Bix loved him to the end. Cassian is a loner and he is alone, but he is lucky enough to be loved by people who still love him no matter how much strife he causes them, and that's important. Not everyone gets that.

Syril.

So l think if he's lonely it's through a kind of choice. He doesn't fit in on Ferrix, he misses his home, but he is loved, no matter how hard he tries.

He is so damn complex.

I’m always thinking of that beautiful quote from Diego about Cassian… “He’s so full of love but he’s so afraid of being loved”. The ArTorr video essay really “gets” that connection imo between love, home and being a revolutionary. The way you need to be able to love others universally and unconditionally in order to be able to make that ultimate sacrifice for the cause.

Fashioning Ferrix

@andorappreciation 14th April: Costumes and sets design

I’m a massive fan of Ferrix. I want to visit. I want to walk in its streets, meet its people, taste its food. The production design isn’t just insanely detailed, it also tells the story of a community.

Here’s an open-air barber’s shop. You can see it in use behind Cassian when he visits Xanwan Freight.

Then there’s the costumes of the people that live there. Did you spot the sunglasses ? I love that Bix was originally codenamed “Becky”. Maarva: “Maggie” 😀

Did you notice that Maarva has a lot of houseplants? Flowers and plants are clearly part of the Ferrix funeral tradition as well – here they are on the body as it’s removed.

Christian Matzke specialises in identifying background Aurebesh and Bazeese. Bazeese - the Ferrix writing script - is named for Barry Gingell, the graphic designer who is responsible for so much of what we see on screen. His nickname is Baz. They were going to give it a proper name, but he just kept on using it until everybody accepted it. (He also cameos as Anto Kreegyr in the holoimage seen in episode 11)

Enjoy the rest of these posts from Christian. My favourite is the one about the Time Grappler’s tower. In episode 3, when one of their own is under threat, the people of Ferrix do exactly this.

Just re-reading the story of the stolen funeral brick and remembering an interview with Diego and Adria where they revealed that somebody was fired on the spot for stealing something from the Ferrix set. Didn’t say what it was, but some carefully designed Ferrix credits were stolen too, so I wonder if it was the same thief who was finally caught or if there was more than one.

May I present to you: the credit stealer. 😝

i'm so fucking mad that i got into Andor late and never got to see the real-time reactions to this devious professional instigator known as Captain Kaido

he reminds me so much of Ralph Fiennes' Amon Goeth from Schindler's List
