Just want to say something regarding Namjoon’s weverse live today.
I’ve been a fan of BTS for ten years now, and I’ve also been a fan of kpop the last decade. The amount of groups I have watched come and go, or change member lineup, or venture into solo activities is…the majority of kpop groups!
The “seven year curse” is less of a thing now. But still, group dynamics do naturally change and develop as they reach the ten year point (if they’re so lucky!).
What BTS is doing is a rarity in the industry. The fact they decided to enlist as closely as possible together so they could reunite as a group sooner is something we should still not take for granted.
An idol group that cares so deeply about staying united as a group in their 12th year is something really special. As fans, I hope we can all acknowledge this is done out of love and gratitude for us.
I have always felt since day one as an ARMY that BTS are extremely generous to their fans and constantly provided us with content, even through the military years. As a result sometimes I feel we have been a bit spoilt. So therefore when there are “lulls” in activity, annoying people can be demanding. And sadly I think Namjoon was exposed to a bit of this, resulting in his words today.
And it was sad Namjoon had to come on live to say he can’t speak on behalf of the other members anymore, how could that be expected when they have all lived separately for years now?? While the dynamic of BTS has changed over the years, it appears to be a much healthier dynamic, and they’re always delighted to see each other <3
While I do believe most fans have no issue with waiting until next year for group activities to resume, (and the ones who want the “old bts” are now gone, bye!!!!!) I still do believe we should all remind ourselves to ignore the noise outside the fandom, and appreciate how special it is to still have BTS together as seven in their 12th year, with ARMY as their no.1 focus ever since they reunited :’)
Thank you for writing this out! Since they got back I’ve just been thinking of every group I’ve been a fan of before… none of them are still together and complete except BTS. Other groups have disbanded, or went on permanent hiatus, or a member left, or a member died tragically young, or a member was revealed to be an awful person, and so on… but here we are at the end of 2025 and every member of Bangtan is back with us, all together. They’re safe, healthy, and clearly so happy to be with each other. They still have an amazing team dynamic, and still want to stay together and make music long-term, one way or another. We’re so, so lucky. Who knows what the future will bring, but right now we’re here, so let’s enjoy our time together 💜
