a lot of people are drawing parallels between the candescent creed and catholicism but they're all wrong. you just saw cool religious imagery and a point of view character with vague guilt and went "oh! catholics!" no no no. they made this shit up, knew it was made up, and then strung earnest people along to spread the word and proselytize and continue to make everything up as they go along. no one in power believes what they're selling because their faith is transparently a means to an end for political power in a changing world, appealing to the authority of an old construct but ultimately branding themselves for the modern age
they are mormons.
