Here is a list of things Donald Trump has repeatedly labeled a "hoax" that were later confirmed to be true or substantially accurate.

The term "hoax" implies a deliberate deception or fabrication. In these cases, the facts, investigations, or events were later verified by credible institutions, courts, or his own administration.

---

1. The Russia Investigation (The "Russia Hoax")

· Trump's Claim: He frequently called the investigation into Russian interference in the 6 election a "hoax," "witch hunt," and "the greatest political hoax in history."

· What Was Confirmed True:

· Russian Interference: The U.S. Intelligence Community, including his own appointees, unanimously and unequivocally confirmed that Russia did interfere in the 2016 election in a "sweeping and systematic" fashion to help Donald Trump. This was documented in the Senate Intelligence Committee's bipartisan report (a 5-volume, nearly 1000-page investigation) and the Mueller Report.

· Contacts with Russians: The Mueller Report documented numerous contacts between the Trump campaign and Russians. While it did not establish a criminal conspiracy, it detailed that the Trump campaign "expected it would benefit electorally from information stolen and released through Russian efforts."

· Obstruction of Justice: The Mueller Report outlined multiple instances of potential obstruction of justice by the President, stating that while it could not indict a sitting president, it "does not exonerate him."

Sources: The Mueller Report (Department of Justice), Bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee Report, statements from FBI Director Christopher Wray (a Trump appointee).

2. The COVID-19 Virus and its Severity

· Trump's Claim: In the early days of the pandemic, he repeatedly downplayed the virus, calling the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response "their new hoax." (February 28, 2020).

· What Was Confirmed True:

· The virus was very real and far more severe than the flu. By April 2020, the U.S. was the global epicenter of the pandemic.

· In recorded conversations with journalist Bob Woodward, Trump privately admitted he knew the virus was "deadly stuff" and airborne while publicly comparing it to the common flu. This confirmed he was aware of the severity while publicly presenting a different story.

Sources: CDC data, WHO, "Rage" by Bob Woodward (audio tapes confirmed the conversations), public health data on cases and deaths.

3. The "Access Hollywood" Tape Authenticity

· Trump's Claim: During the 2016 campaign, he suggested the "Access Hollywood" tape, where he used graphic language about groping women, might not be real, calling it a "total fabrication" and part of a "concerted, coordinated political attack."

· What Was Confirmed True:

· The tape was authenticated by NBC News, which owned the footage. The network and the show's host, Billy Bush, confirmed its legitimacy.

· Trump himself admitted to the authenticity in a 2016 debate and in a subsequent video statement, apologizing for his language.

Sources: NBC News, the 2016 presidential debate, Trump's own public apology.

4. The Stormy Daniels "Hush Money" Payment

· Trump's Claim: He initially denied all knowledge of the $130,000 payment made by his lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election. He called the story a "total con job" and a "hoax."

· What Was Confirmed True:

· His former lawyer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations for making the payment at Trump's direction, stating under oath that he did it "in coordination with and at the direction of" Trump.

· This is the central allegation in the New York criminal case for which Trump was indicted and later found guilty on 34 felony counts. The jury confirmed the core facts of the case.

Sources: U.S. District Court documents from Michael Cohen's case, The People of the State of New York v. Donald J. Trump (NY Supreme Court).

5. The "Perfect" Phone Call with Ukraine's President

· Trump's Claim: He called the whistleblower complaint and the subsequent impeachment inquiry a "hoax" and a "witch hunt." He described his July 25, 2019, phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky as "perfect."

· What Was Confirmed True:

· A rough transcript of the call, released by the White House itself, confirmed that Trump asked Zelensky to "do us a favor though" and investigate the Bidens.

· Multiple witnesses in the impeachment inquiry testified to a clear quid pro quo: military aid was withheld to pressure Ukraine into announcing investigations that would benefit Trump politically.

· The non-partisan Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded the White House violated federal law by withholding the aid.

Sources: White House-released transcript of the call, testimony during the House impeachment inquiry, GAO legal finding.

6. Climate Change

· Trump's Claim: He has repeatedly called climate change a "hoax," including in a 2018 tweet where he said "Brutal and Extended Cold Blast could shatter ALL RECORDS - Whatever happened to Global Warming?"

· What Was Confirmed True:

· The scientific consensus, represented by NASA, NOAA, the IPCC, and every major national scientific academy in the world, confirms that climate change is real, primarily human-caused, and poses a severe threat. His own administration released the Fourth National Climate Assessment, which detailed the severe economic and environmental impacts the U.S. is already experiencing due to human-caused climate change.

Overview

In each of these cases, the label "hoax" was used to dismiss serious allegations, factual reports, or scientific consensus. Subsequent investigations, legal proceedings, official government reports, and public admissions confirmed that the underlying events or facts were, in fact, true. The disconnect was not in the facts themselves, but in the characterization of those facts as fraudulent.

(The link will auto-play a video. It was muted for me but I'm not so sure if that will be the case for everybody. I tried linking the images themselves but I was blocked from doing so.)

I couldn't find all of the emails together in a single document yet, and I don't have the energy or time to do it myself right now. These three emails seems to be the most damning from what people are saying so far.
