• What does OC mean?
OC is an acronym for original character.

What is an original character? What are they for?
An original character is a fictional being of one’s own creation that is a part of an original or pre-existing universe. OCs have many purposes, including use in original novels, comics, screenplays, fanfiction, and other stories, roleplaying, tabletop campaigns, and other creative works, to name a few.

How do I make an OC?
Check out our How To guide for suggestions on to get started!

What if a post doesn’t apply to my OC? What if a post applies to me personally?
If a post isn’t relevant to your OCs, simply don’t interact with it!

    Are you accepting submissions?
Head on over to the ask page to send in your submissions. If you would like to be credited, do not submit anonymously. Please note that submissions may be altered slightly to ensure correct capitalization, grammar, or spelling. Not all submissions will be posted.

Will you draw my OC? Will you make an aesthetic board for my OC? Will you make an OC for me? Will you come up with my OC’s entire life story?
    No.

    When did this project start?
develop-your-oc’s first post was in October 2016.

What’s this I’m hearing about orcs?
Due to a lovely misreading of our URL (orcs instead of ocs), develop-your-oc is sometimes referred to as “develop-your-orcs.” We are more than okay with this.
