Nene (nee Loops) explains the deal with Code Crowns and so now we have a tangible means of making Shoutmon the One True King of the Digimons. The gang hops over to the Island Zone in pursuit of its Code Crown, which is also being sought by one of Tactimon’s generals Neptunemon. There’s a battle during which Shoutmon x2 Xroses with ChibiKamemon to win, but Neptunemon isn’t out of the picture yet…

Seeing these guys together makes me think of the 02 episode Call of Dagomon, and how thankful I am that Chiaki Konaka never fell off the deep end, buying into alt-right conspiracy nonsense about cancel culture destroying the internet, and never wrote a Tamers stage play on the topic in 2021.

Yup, I sure am glad all of that didn’t happen, and that the last on-record official Tamers content was the 2018 audio drama that ends on a heart-wrenching-in-all-the-best-ways cliffhanger. Sometimes it’s better for stories to be left to personal and subjective interpretation, feel me?

It’s a nice touch to have filtered these line reads as if they were being spoken underwater. I generally don’t expect that kind of attention to detail with stock transformation sequences like this.

I’m just sayin, what took Sokka of the Southern Water Tribe three whole seasons’ worth of development to accomplish, Taiki managed in 3 days.

Four episodes in and we’ve firmly established that Taiki is already a competent and cunning tactician, certainly moreso than any of the other goggle boys have been up until this point. Makes me wonder what his arc is going to be going forward.

I’m guessing “Diginoir” is actually meant to be “Diginoix” (as in the French word for “nuts”, pronounced “nwah”) which is good news for me because I probably would have committed to the gimmick of overwrought Noir-esque narration if I wasn’t given a reason not to and that’s harder than it looks.

This world’s beating down on me. Seems no matter how many times I take down some latex-clad kingpin running an island like his own personal playground, there’s always some new joker running around dressed as a vampire picking up right where he left off. Sometimes it feels easier to just give up, and let the darkness win. And hell, maybe it is easier. What’s hard is believing there’s still something worth fighting for. And in the end, maybe that’s why I do. Because without something to fight for, what do I have left? A badge. Some gizmo. A talking monster following me around. Maybe that’s all you need. Maybe.

You know it’s kind of amazing that the SD card has been in use for over 16 years now, even if it mostly survives today as a shell for MicroSD
