Too much creative license

I like it that I can generate a PowerPoint Presentation and Pictory can create a video from it, I do think that Pictory and AI in general does take too much creative license and steers the video in their assumed direction

I started on the free trial and then…

I started on the free trial and then signed up for a paid package, but I was never able to access the paid account. Despite multiple attempts to get help, I could not get a clear or effective response from support.

I kept getting generic AI replies that didn’t resolve the issue or explain how to fix it. After nearly two days of going back and forth with no progress and no access to what I paid for, I documented all communications and canceled.

This experience was frustrating and avoidable. Based on the lack of support when there was a billing and access issue, I would not recommend moving forward.

A Powerhouse for Content Creators (If You Bring Your Vision!)

I’ve been using Pictory.ai for a while now, and it has completely transformed my workflow for turning long-form content into engaging social media videos. It is, without a doubt, one of the most efficient AI video tools on the market today.

The AI is incredibly intuitive—it handles the heavy lifting of transcribing, finding stock footage, and syncing captions with impressive accuracy. However, what people need to understand to truly get the most out of this platform is that it isn’t a "set it and forget it" magic wand.

To achieve a professional, high-quality result, you need to apply your own creative touch. While the AI suggests clips and layouts, the real magic happens when you use your creativity to refine the pacing, swap out specific visuals to better match your brand’s voice, and tweak the messaging.

If you view Pictory as a highly skilled assistant rather than a total replacement for your creative direction, you will see incredible results. It saves me hours of manual editing, but it still allows me the flexibility to inject my own style into every project.

I’m extremely disappointed with…

I’m extremely disappointed with Pictory. I paid for Premium expecting to create videos, only to discover that Premium does NOT actually allow you to generate videos without buying additional “points”. This was never clearly explained during checkout.

The app forces you through multiple confusing screens (style, camera motion, points, upsells) and repeatedly asks for more money even after paying for a subscription. This feels intentionally misleading.

I did not generate or download a single video, yet I was blocked by a hidden credit system. Premium should mean usable not “pay again to actually do anything”.

For professionals and businesses, especially healthcare, this workflow is frustrating, time wasting, and unacceptable. I’ve cancelled and moved to a competitor with transparent pricing.

Pictory seriously needs to fix its pricing clarity and user experience.

useless and expinsive

Pictory.ai is massively overpriced for what it offers. The generated videos are poor quality, often inaccurate, and require a lot of manual fixing — which defeats the purpose of using AI in the first place.

Key features like API access are locked behind the most expensive subscription, making it completely unrealistic for small businesses or developers. This isn’t mentioned clearly upfront.

On top of that, cancelling is intentionally frustrating. You’re forced to go through around 10 pointless questions just to cancel, which feels like a dark pattern designed to make users give up.

Overall, bad value for money, weak output quality, and an unpleasant user experience.

The Support is Terrible and They Rip You Off

The support is terrible. They tell you to "stay online and we will be right with you", but after 25 minutes you realize that is a lie. After you hound the chatbot it tells you that it has sent your request to support and they will be in-touch.

All I wanted to do was change my email address, and they told me I had to move all my projects and setup a new account.

Really? That's ridiculous.

I decided I wanted to cancel my subscription and get a refund of $216 for the remaining 9 months of my 12 month subscription.

They will not do that. Once they latch unto your money it's gone.

What kind of policy is that? If someone is not using your service anymore, why do they have to pay for it?

That kind of behaviour tells me they are desperate for income because the product sucks.

I guess it doesn't matter if you're an unsatisfied customer, pictory is "committed" to keeping your money.

My personal review after using pictory ai

However, after a month I saw some improvement in voiceovers and visuals. But still videos I wanted to generate was not satisfying and convincing. So i didn't continued upgrading further.

Trotz Professional Plan kein Getty Images Material und Support hilft nicht

Ich habe vor 2 Monaten das Professional Jahresabo gekauft, vor allem, um mehr und besseres Stockmaterial für meine erstellten Videos zur Verfügung zu haben. Und das fand ich bei Pictory, da sie in ihrer Bibliothek neben Storyblocks auch Getty Images Videomaterial anbieten, was mich sehr freute. Einen Monat funktionierte alles. Seit nun mindestens 2-3 Wochen kann ich nicht mehr auf die Getty Images Bibliothek zugreifen. Es werden mir nur noch Stockvideos von Storyblocks angezeigt, obwohl ich den Professional Plan habe und es dort explizit mit inbegriffen ist und es ja auch vorher funktionierte. Der Ki-Chatsupport von Pictory konnte mir nicht weiterhelfen und verwies mich auf den "echten Support", der sich innerhalb von 1 Werktag bei mir melden sollte. Nach 4 Tagen kam tatsächlich eine Rückmeldung vom Support mit der Bitte, dass ich Screenshots von meinem Problem machen sollte. Das habe ich am selben Tag noch getan. Seit dem kam keine Antwort mehr von Support. Das ist absolut inakzeptabel, da für mich dadurch dieses teuer bezahlte Abo nur sehr eingeschränkt nutzbar ist und ich den Plan vor allem wegen der Anbindung zu Getty Images abonniert habe. Da die Credits monatlich abgerechnet werden und die nicht verbrauchten Credits am Monatsende verfallen, ist es umso wichtiger, dass sich der Support auch zeitnah zurückmeldet und vor allem das Problem behebt, sodass ich weiterarbeiten kann. Ich bin wirklich sehr enttäuscht und fühle mich um mein Geld betrogen. Ich hoffe, dass sie mich aufgrund dieser Bewertung nun endlich ernst nehmen und mein Problem beheben. Ansonsten bleibt mir nur die sofortige Kündigung, da ich nicht die versprochene Leistung bekomme.

Bad Experience

Bad Experience

I subscribed for one month and started creating videos. After a couple of videos, I encountered a technical issue. The video preview in the storyboard was completely dark, and even when previewing the video, it remained dark, making it impossible to create any content, cut scenes, etc.

I tried to fix the issue by changing videos and checking online for solutions, but nothing worked, so I contacted customer support. Unfortunately, I was effectively abandoned twice. With a monthly subscription, waiting more than two days for support is unacceptable.

On 26/12, I contacted customer support.
On 02/01, Dhruv replied by email, asking me to confirm which project had the issue. I replied the same day.
On 09/01, after receiving no answer or solution and being under pressure to create videos for my work, I contacted customer support again. Rae replied the same day, asking me to share one of the videos affected by the issue, which I did.
On 16/01, having received no response at all, I decided to cancel the subscription.

I have to say that the library of voices and visuals is nice. The platform does have some limitations, but honestly, these would be very easy to avoid or improve.

If you never face any issues and only want to create videos using pre-made visuals and AI, it might work for you.

But if you do run into a problem, good luck.

For me, $49 thrown in the bin.

Les outils de création de vidéos ne sont pas optimal. Les options que vous prenez dans le forfait professionnel sont absent malgré qu'il sont indiqué. Malgré plusieurs relances, impossible d'annuler mon abonnement ou même de ce faire rembourser.

The product itself is great and works exactly as promised. In the end, I realized that I don’t really need it for my current business, but what truly stood out was the outstanding customer support.

The team was fast, friendly, and very accommodating, offering a fair and helpful solution regarding the refund. This level of professionalism and customer care is rare.
