The more dispatch I play the more pissed off I get about the whole “twilight for men” thing because like
I won’t lie. Dispatch has some serious problems. Robert being sexually assaulted and played as a joke wasn’t cool, nor were the several racist comments. Most of those problems are just a couple off color moments or the edge going a bit too far.
But in general Dispatch has a very diverse cast and portrays a lot of ethnicities that aren’t common in the media in a mostly respectful manner. It’s far from perfect, but when was the last time you actually saw a Sikh or Afghan character in mainstream media that wasn’t a nasty stereotype?
Twilight though? Twilight is fucking Problematic on pretty much every level. Dispatch has a few moderately racist jokes? Well Twilight directly harmed the Quileute Tribe and has almost no racialized characters that aren’t harmful stereotypes. Dispatch has a few off color jokes where sexual assault isn’t taken seriously? Well the main fucking plot of Twilight is the teen mc getting stalked, groomed, and abused by an older man. Dispatch is kinda liberal and doesn’t adequately critique the whole “superhero cops private corp” situation? Well Twilight is ideologically fucking Mormon.
I just think that comparing a piece of media that is wildly bigoted and straight up cult propaganda to an edgy bro game just because they have a love triangle is pretty disingenuous
