John Constantine devolving into the “league’s on call magic guy” is far less funny than John’s roots, which is world traveling occultist who’s so messy the conflicts he takes part in are either caused by him or just fall into his lap. My man would never answer if a government adjacent entity told him to go fight demons in New York, but if the old lady across the street had a ghost he’d sniff around for the hell of it
basically it’s less “I got called away on urgent ~league business~” and more “chas told me about some demon possessions in his area which may or may not have something to do with the demon I pissed off 3 months ago”

Honestly, the most shocking thing about the whole Constantine/King Shark thing is the idea of Constantine being on good terms with one of his exes.
Honestly, I’m more surprised King Shark is still alive to tell the tale.
I’m assuming the same sort of tragic bullshit happened that usually happens to Constantine’s loved ones, and King Shark just sort of shrugged it off on account of he is a giant fucking shark man.
