Your art slaps and is hella underrated. Keep it up, king

Thanks! I’ve been trying to get myself into a rythmn for drawing rather than dropping out for ages, but I find drawing for the AZRE blog has really helped in getting into the routine and practicing things I’m a bit wonky on.

I got a lot better on my anatomy and gestures which I’m happy about, and it’s validating hearing it from you that it shows <3

communist-hatsunemiku:

Frankly, creating entire blogs dedicated to posting screenshots of every single thing someone else posts is the scariest shit. It literally doesn’t matter what that person is posting, spending your time being an unpaid, dork ass, pig-wannabe, monitoring everything someone else does on here, all with the infuriating smol bean affect…

You are the dangerous person.

Do any of the main hazbin characters have an arc? Maybe I'm being stupid, but I don't think any of them do besides maybe angel

They have “arcs” which are basically glorified spark notes.

  • Charlie and Vox’s for the season were their issues coming up and proving to cause more problems in their lives and relationships, with both taking their own individual ends.
  • Vaggie is basically just her name change since she spent the entire season running the hotel and telling Charlie to stop dragging them down in her dumbass attempts to clear her name, before the show decided to have Vaggie do the exact same thing only using Lucifer for it and then abandoned the name change plot with a poor attempt to reclaim it.
  • Alastor is his contract with the barest of information given and what we do have portrays him as a fucking idiot.
  • Baxter is completely useless and just there for the ending so they have a way to fight back at Vox.
  • Niffty is just Niffty and I honestly appreciate that. Queen.
  • Husk is just overall more amicable while still grouchy, and the show into his issues was welcome. His relationship with Angel is actually better this time than S1 imo.
  • The less I say about Lucifer the better.

Other than that, the others are just their flat selves. Any attempt to have a meaningful arc or characters or interactions or worldbuilding just falls flat.

And yeah, you can mention how the incredibly short timeline means that some things have to be cut, but the show also just misuses that time with the stupidest writing.

I personally pray that Viv never gets her hands on Cain.

Please just let me have this one thing universe.

I saw someone (don’t remember who) mention that if the lyric Abel sings - Too bad that I’m not the braver son, is referencing Cain, then it really shouldn’t because Cain is literally the first murderer and murdered his brother out of jealousy, then… yeah.

Cain also has no mention in the entire show which makes sense, he’s busy being exiled on Earth to wander forever while being unable to be harmed, but you’d think they’d at least mention him.

Now if it was Seth, the line would at least be somewhat interesting because Seth in myth was thought to be the replacement of Abel by Eve, so having Seth in the show being seen as the better son, the choice over him, by Abel would open good introspection.

But that’s thinking they’d even remember the third son or have anything for Abel when his entire “arc” in S2 was getting leadership through nepotism, being a spineless loser all the time, and then learning to channel his father’s inner misogyny for the last two minutes of the season.

Oh, definitely a missed opportunity to not have Charlie take on Vox. Season 1 showed that if pressed she can and will fight and is strong enough to injure an Archangel without an angelic weapon but this season just had her be full pacifist. Also fully expected her and Lute too throw down, what with Lute explicitly saying she was gonna hurt Vaggie to get too her in "Gravity". They found a way to explain why Lucifer doesn't just deal with a problem but Charlie has no such condition stopping her.

Exactly. As much as I have issues with Lucifer’s entire character in the show, it DOES at least give Charlie a chance to actually be proactive in the way without having her fall back on her dad winning it for her like the S1 finale.

The animation’s gotten better as well and we can see that they can be creative when animating fights, so why not give that same attention to Charlie and her powers outside of fucking fireworks?

So while I didn't dislike the season of Hazbin, it definitely could have benefited from having more episodes. Lute was also heavily underutilized despite the build up from 'Gravity'. Would have also liked to have seen Charlie cut loose at least once and throw some hands rather than getting finessed by multiple characters all season and not get a single fight.

I wish Charlie fought Vox ngl

All season we had these two characters be compared and contrasted, how their desire for validation and self esteem issues are formed wit how they project and deal with them. How these flaws had ended up pushing away those they love the most, but whereas Charlie managed to fix her relationship with Vaggie through acknowledgement, Vox kept digging and digging until he found himself in a hole by himself.

So why not have these two face off against each other in the end? Yes, Charlie is a lot stronger than Vox, but that’s why you get creative. Vox using the weapon powered by her father after she got him on the back foot would be interesting because finally Charlie can get hurt, the playing field is a bit more even.

It’s also the main protagonist vs the main antagonist. But we get nothing from their interactions besides the way to drive Alastor’s plot and story. Charlie has nothing to gain from her own story besides being used as a prop for Vox vs Alastor, and I’m sick to death of her being shafted of so much interesting storytelling for the show’s blorbos.

Like don’t get me wrong, Charlie had spent most of the season pissing me off because of how the story was treating her and her behaviour. The final nail in the coffin was her inviting Angel’s abusers into the hotel and not immediately kicking them out when he specifically asked her not to have them here for very valid reasons.

But she is a fictional character. Charlie didn’t do this, the writers wrote her to do this. They’re the ones refusing to give her character meaningful storytelling and consequences, so they get the shit stick.

in relation to the post of yours about epic the musical (which is a fantastic post by the way, it’s summarized a lot of the problems that I have with epic and the epic fandom way more concisely than I could have) I have one question (since I am genuinely looking for more opinions on this and am genuinely trying to learn more) how much of these problems do you think are caused by the musical’s actual castings and how much of it is caused by fans own implicit biases/colorism/racism? (I’m more interested in the first part of the question, since obviously there are lots of racist people in the fandom)

okay im really sorry for bothering you but your post popped up on my feed and i really wanted to talk to someone else about this! thank you so much and have a nice day!

Sorry for such the long wait anon!

Honestly? I think it’s both. There’s definitely racism and colourism in the actual work itself, but the fandom does enough heavy lifting of its own. You see it where they will keep to the race of the singer for the character when they’re meant to be seen as bad or in the wrong (Antonious, Eurylochus, Calypso) whereas they just ignore it entirely for others (Aphrodite being also shown as white or lighter skinned when her VA is Indian).

This post also just sums up the issue with the treatment of Eurylochus specifically lol

So Luke. When you add milk to your cereal. Does the milk:

A.) Stay as a beverage

B.) Become a broth

C.) Become a sauce

It becomes a secret fourth thing :))

Bit of an off topic question. But what fanfiction that you've read do you feel had the best romance in it?

I don’t really read fanfics tbh,,, I only like to write them and such, I found that I just don’t focus as much on fics as I used to lol
