I need to know wtf MCR put in the guitar solo for Summertime because every time I hear it, my heart swells with nostalgia for something, but also a longing for something I can’t quite name and it makes me cry because even though I can’t put a name to it, I know in my heart it’s something I’ll never get to have
Kind of interesting that Gerard's epaulettes (more accurately the shoulder strap ornamentation but whatthefuckever) are more ornate than those of the Grand Immortal Dictator because in at least the US and French militaries, fancier epaulettes tend to denote higher rank. Which lends itself to a fun reading of the Most Exalted Vocalist being marked as some sort of sacrifice (does not exert more political power than GID, but has absolute power in the sense that they have to die in order for the continued existence of Draag) and/or a meta hint at the fact that Gerard, as the person responsible for GID's creation, outranks him by virtue of the fact that he only exists as a character as long as Gerard feels like doing the show—the latter interpretation of course adding some fun possible in-universe parallels to the extent of MEV's complicity/the possibility of MEV being the one to ultimately kill the GID. Or Gerard just thought it looked cool
