I really love what the show is doing with Sally’s character but specifically adding how she also has prophetic dreams.
Dreaming of the coin with a scythe on one side and a trident on the other to foreshadow Luke/Kronos and Percy. A glimpse of her son’s fate but also a reminder Luke and Percy are two sides of the same coin. Sons ignored by their fathers. Half-bloods used by the gods. Heroes tied to a prophecy.
There are so many decisions, so many forks in the road, that could lead Percy to Kronos. Just as Luke was. That’s Sally’s burden. To tether Percy to his own humanity. To raise him to make the right choices despite his righteous anger. To know when and where to fight. To warn him of the gods but to understand where they belong in the world.
But also how having these dreams allow Sally to mirror May Castellan. How every time Percy comes back home to Sally, with cheek kisses and I love you moms and blue candy waiting for him, it’s a reminder that Luke also has a mortal mother waiting for him with burnt cookies and moldy sandwiches and visions of tragedy. Two women who fell in love with gods and are now haunted by their sons’ fate.
It’s just great foreshadowing for show viewers and a devastating tidbit for book fans.
