another video of the same song as this post! this was such a fun first show
hey, bay area peeps! wanna watch us play live? wanna hear a bunch of songs that’ll be on the upcoming album? well we’re playing this show on the 27th!
the fat trans girl appreciation song you've always needed is out now!
the second single off our upcoming album, taller than the redwoods, is now out on bandcamp!
this is a song about big women at little shows, and not knowing whether you’re experiencing attraction or gender envy. it's about fat and trans liberation, and about taking what you want from life.
it also has lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and bass guitar from the incredible lilith carter! (lilith.carter.music on instagram).
if you like it, please consider throwing a dollar our way to download it! we're currently trying to put the funds together for a physical run of CDs and cassettes for the upcoming album, so every dollar helps us make that happen! (you can also find our visual art commission info here; we've got a special deal going on right now for commissions contributing towards the album release).
anyway, enjoy! stay silly, y'all!!!!
like it says above, our new single is out!!
if you listen to it, thanks a ton! if you send a dollar our way to download it, thanks two tons!!
looking for some feedback…
so, we’ll be releasing our first album as Gay Eldest Daughter early next year!
look, here’s the cover!
and we already released the first single! (another’s coming soon ;3c)
anyway, point is, getting CDs and cassettes professionally printed for this album would cost money. about $130 for a run of 50 CDs and about $250 for 35 cassettes. that is not really spare money we have right now.
now, normally what one might do in this scenario is release the digital album along with a pre-order option for a physical release that would be printed soon after album release. however, this is our first full-length release under this moniker. there’s a decent amount of y'all here, and plenty of you are interested in our tunes, but even still we’d be highly unlikely to cover the cost of printing purely through pre-orders. moreover, since we are self-publishing, we don’t have the help of a label in this process, so therefore we’re hesitant to sell anyone orders of products that don’t physically exist yet.
our tentative solution is this: special visual art commissions!
once the next single releases, we’re thinking about offering special commissions of our visual art that would also immediately earn the commissioner download codes for both singles, as well as a CD or cassette (their choice) delivered upon release of the album.
what do y'all think? is that something y'all would be interested in?
another little progression from the upcoming album. the working title of this one is "dandelions"
it’s been raining a lot these past couple days, so i started on this really moody banjo + electric and acoustic guitar + drums + lots of reverb piece
we just released a new single on bandcamp!
it's a song about protecting your headmates and the process of learning to coexist as a system, a slow and sappy track sung over banjo and keys, bursting with love for plural existence.
if you like it, throw a dollar our way on bandcamp and you can download it in high quality!
lyrics below the cut:
hey everyone, like it says above, we just released our first single on bandcamp!
if you give it a listen, thanks a bunch! if you download it, thanks a double bunch!

have this quick little old time ditty that i wrote a couple days ago and recorded this morning.
in terms of total instrumentation, it's substantially simpler than most of the other tracks on the album that's currently in the works--this is so far the only solo banjo song--but i'm proud of it!
surprise, everyone! here’s a full original song from yours truly!
now that we're getting close to finishing this song (the structure and vocals are both complete), we wanna preview the first half for y'all!
fat trans girls forever and ever and ever!!!!!
lyrics:
well i was once a skinny thing
but i yearned to be let in
to a world that was softer than
that of skinny folks and men
i wanted breasts of my own
and hair that reached the floor
and though estrogen works wonders
i still wanted more
well that was when i saw her
an exquisite kind of doll
generous around the middle
almost as wide as she was tall
i knew that i was awestruck
i knew i had a crush
but the gender envy that i felt
was just as big a rush
i want her, wanna be her
every time i see her
that fat transgender punk rock girl
moshing at the show
she’s queen of the venue
i hope i’m on her menu
that Venus of the DIY
i wanna get to know
hey, everyone! take a listen to this little preview of our Fat Trans Girl Appreciation Song
been listening to a lot of the sunset tree these past couple days, and i got inspired by it to start writing a song about plurality and my historical role as a protector headmate. heavily a wip still but here's the first verse and the first chorus. --em
lyrics:
you may have never heard of me, though i know your name so closely
i’ll give myself another, so you can’t refuse to know me
i’m living in the undiscovered corners of your mind
or maybe you’re living here in mine
i think that i’m what happens when you pull every alarm
you’re free to voice objections when you're the one in charge
but you were gonna do something very, very dumb
so instead i’m gonna run, gonna run, gonna run
you’ll tell your friends i don’t exist
though i still know that i’ll be missed
your tears roll down my cheeks as you cry
and however i can, goddammit, i’m keeping you alive
just posted another wip here on our music sideblog! go follow this blog for updates on this project! we’re writing an EP!
banjo at sunrise
slow lil progression in ¾
decided there aren't enough songs in the world about hot fat tgirls, so now we're making our own.
this is just the instrumental for the first verse (broken up into two stanzas) and the first chorus. we're recovering from a cold and still aren't back to being able to sing yet :(
in the verse's second stanza, we're thinking about re-recording the banjo to just be strumming eighth notes like the guitar. we're torn between wanting those two rhythms to counter each other during the stanza and wanting to keep things simple and strong.
also the guitar is not final either lol
anyway, we're thinking the lyrics for this section of the song are gonna be as follows:
hey everyone! we’ve been recording some tunes to be released under the moniker of gay eldest daughter soon, so we’re gonna use this blog to document that music. give it a follow if this lil tune tickles your fancy!
made a couple mistakes here and there but i wanted to get the idea down; we came up with this really pretty 8 measure chord progression that has a little melody playing within!
it’s pretty different from a standard traditional clawhammer banjo playing pattern, and i’m really happy with it!
now i gotta write some lyrics
practicing a clawhammer version of the instrumental for willi carlisle’s “the grand design”
