about

It’s been nearly four years since Jules released the brilliant Offset Enumerate, an album that, in my opinion, was far ahead of its time. More than just a breakcore record, it felt like a statement: a bold reimagining of the genre through a completely different sonic language. Hyper-detailed rhythms collided with unexpected melodic sensibilities, creating something deeply personal, magnetic, and enigmatic. The tracks never let you fully settle, they constantly shifted, fractured, and reassembled themselves, demanding your attention from beginning to end.

What made Offset Enumerate truly special was the way complexity and cohesion coexisted. Beneath the relentless energy, there was an emotional logic holding everything together. You didn’t just listen to these tracks, you explored them. Multiple listens were essential to uncover the layers hidden within those five to eight minutes, where micro-edits, evolving textures, and sudden melodic turns revealed new meanings each time.
For fans of this kind of music, that process of discovery is the ultimate reward. The excitement of finding unfamiliar structures, unexpected harmonic choices, and rhythmic ideas that feel genuinely new is rare, and Offset Enumerate delivered all of that with confidence. Even years later, it still stands as a benchmark for experimental electronic music that dares to be challenging without losing its sense of identity.

Now, we arrive at Conflated Narratives. As the title suggests, this second album from Hitori on Evel feels like a natural continuation rather than a departure, an expansion of the universe hinted at before. Once again, we’re immersed in a dystopian, industrial, cybernetic future, but this time the vision feels broader and more refined. The sound design is sharper, the compositions more deliberate, and the atmosphere more immersive, as if fragmented stories and digital memories were being woven together into a single, unstable timeline.
There’s a striking sense of maturity here. The chaos feels intentional, the tension controlled. Every distorted beat, every warped melody seems placed with purpose. Honestly, I can’t think of anyone else creating music like this right now, music that balances raw intensity with such a high level of compositional and sonic detail. It doesn’t rely on genre tropes, it builds its own internal logic and invites the listener to step inside it.

The wait has absolutely been worth it. It’s an honor to share this artist’s work and release this music through Evel. Jules, you’ve broken boundaries once again. You’ve made me move to your relentless rhythms and transported me to places that only your music can reach, spaces where emotion, machinery, and imagination collide. Thank you for the dedication, the vision, and the patience behind this extraordinary album. I truly hope everyone allows themselves to sink into this inspiring and futuristic journey as deeply as I have.
