Reblog to let your friends know you love their ocs
It's actually kind of striking how rapidly the ads on ostensibly respectable platforms have changed in the last 12–18 months. I've been getting penis enlargement scams and pyramid schemes that don't even bother to pretend to be otherwise on YouTube – it's like every platform is now running the kinds of ads that even three years ago would have been restricted to porn sites, and I'm not gonna lie, the fact that everyone seems to be getting desperate all at once ain't an encouraging sign!
I just saw full frontal erect penis on a weather app. It's not the sign of the impending tech-bubble implosion I expected, but apparently it's the sign we're getting.
Anna's Archive managed to get their hands on "86 million music files" from Spotify, "representing around 99.6% of listens" and metadata for "256 million tracks", that represents "estimated 99.9% of tracks"
I am at loss of words
We backed up Spotify (metadata and music files). It’s distributed in bulk torrents (~300TB), grouped by popularity.
This release includes the largest publicly available music metadata database with 256 million tracks and 186 million unique ISRCs.
It’s the world’s first “preservation archive” for music which is fully open (meaning it can easily be mirrored by anyone with enough disk space), with 86 million music files, representing around 99.6% of listens.
#didn’t they recent nuke this archive bc idiots on TikTok be sharing too much
...No. In general, popular pirate sites, which includes Anna's Archive or The Pirate Bay, are designed against takedown attempts like a Hydra: by having multiple domains, many people hosting it (with a bit of effort you can literally host Anna's Archive yourself), multiple redirections, open collections distributed over torrents, and being hosted in areas where copyright enforcement is less strict. What did happen recently is taking down the ".org" domain, which is a nothingburger because ".li", ".se", ".pm", and ".in" still exist.
Also take note that because you can't access a site, it's not necessarily taken down. I've learned over time from a lot of reblogs on this post, that a lot of people in UK can't, because their internet service provider blocks access. As usual, you can walk around those blocks by using a different domain, changing your DNS provider, using DNS-over-HTTPS, using Tor, or using VPNs (in increasing order of difficulty or invasiveness)
Also the Anna's Archive itself disagrees that spreading the word is bad:
How can I help?

2. Spread the word about Anna’s Archive on Twitter, Reddit, Tiktok, Instagram, at your local cafe or library, or wherever you go! We don’t believe in gatekeeping — if we get taken down we’ll just pop right up elsewhere, since all our code and data is fully open source.
my Roman Empire is this clip from an unfinished build of mcsm
Hate it when TikTok farm cosplayers and cottagecore types say stuff like "I'm not going to use modern equipment because my grandmothers could make do without it." Ma'am, your great grandma had eleven children. She would have killed for a slow cooker and a stick blender.
I’ve noticed a sort of implicit belief that people used to do things the hard way in the past because they were tougher or something. In reality, labor-saving devices have historically been adopted by the populace as soon as they were economically feasible. No one stood in front of a smoky fire or a boiling pot of lye soap for hours because they were virtuous, they did it because it was the only way to survive.

everyone's afraid this is teaching the dog to bite but he is actually so old he doesn't have enough teeth left
1) that wasn't a shitpost response (why would it be?) he literally appears to lack his front teeth, probably still has back teeth or he wouldn't be getting crunchy treats
2) this is a normal training method to teach a dog to wait; you give the treat when they're finally patient. He's just failing really bad, possibly because he's old, for the same reason you'd find it total bull if you were allowed to wolf down any food you wanted until you were suddenly told out of the blue that this is not how good boys or girls eat their treats, but you are being told this for the first time at like, 75 years old
accidentally said Shirley instead of Siri and now my phone is stuck in Airplane mode
