The family Tripterygiidae, or threefin blennies, are noticeably different from other blennies and most other fish thanks to sporting a dorsal fin split into three separate parts, two of which are very spiny! They also have serrated edges on their scales.
Pictured is the New Zealand topknot.
fishyfishyfishtimes asked:
Favourite fish?
warriormoustache answered:
Very hard to pick a favourite because I love all fish, but I’ll admit that I do have a particularly soft spot for blennies. Particularly those from the genus excenius. Every time I see one I feel happy.
They’re just so dumb
This fish is having so many thoughts running through its head right now and none of them are intelligent.
Of course I am also fond of their relatives; the gobies, the mudskippers, the dragonets, but something about these tiny slug-fish always mange to make my day feel better
I could stare at them for hours
