Crisis mode toolbox!

1. Vigorous exercise

Jump around! Jump around! Jump up jump up and get down! (Tense up your body and see how high you can jump)

Shake it out! (Pay attention to how you feel in your arms and your legs as you shake them vigorously, and breathe into it. Shake out your face and your tongue too if you're feeling adventurous)

Do as many crunches or cycle crunches as you can

Got some dumbells? Pick 'em up and do as many curls as you can until you start to feel sore, then take a break and do some more if you feel like it.

Got a bicycle? Go ride your bike somewhere, even if it's just to the end of your street and back a couple times.

2. Cool it down ❄

Cold cold coldy cold cold🧊

Put an ice pack on the back or sides of your neck or put a frozen gel pack on your face. Works slower, but in a similar way.

Take a cold shower or bath.

Go swimming in cold water and dive for a bit. Time to chillax.

4. Are you breathing? Are you sure?

Focus on your breathing. The tempo, the depth, the time between each breath, ect. Try to experiment and see what you can control with your breath.

Try to see if you can breathe out longer than you breathe in.

Try to count how many seconds you can hold your breath before you need to breathe again.

Box breathing: breathe in 4 seconds thru the nostrils, hold breath 4 seconds, breathe out like you're blowing a balloon 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, ect

Resonance/Coherent breathing: Breathe in 6 seconds, breathe out 6 seconds. Simple as.

Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Haaa: 2 sharp breaths in with "hoo hoo" and one big breath out with haa.

Counting 123

See how many clouds, stars, trees, blades of grass, grains of rice, ect. that you can count.

Find 5 yellow things

4 blue things

3 orange things

2 red things

and 1 purple thing.

or whatever color set suits you best.

Just pick anything to count and notice. If this seems menial that's because it is, but it's supposed to help get you focused on something else.

“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”

“If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.”

If you ever did something bad you might as well just die and hope to be reborn as an innocent child and not do bad things in your new life because your old one cannot be redeemed no matter what. No matter what. <- how people treat others online and irl to be completely honest

Floating on

South American Sea Nettle

(Chrysaora plocamia), Family Pelagiidae

Etymology: Chrysaor (Son of Medusa and Poseidon) + plókamos (Ancient Greek for “braid of hair”/“tress”)

[ImageID: A picture of two south american sea nettles in an aquarium tank. They are both intact with full sets of oral arms and tentacles. Be transgender and visit the American Museum of Natural History

For all my New Yorkers (and adjacent), come visit the American Museum of Natural History and meet other trans people!

In conjunction with the Trans Visibility Social Club of NYC!

If you RSVP before January 22nd* you will be able to see Encounters in the Milky Way with Pedro Pascal at the Hayden Planetarium & IMPACT: the end of the age of dinosaurs for free. This would normally cost $35 (or $28 for students). Depending on the number of people who RSVP, I may break everyone up into two groups so the exhibits don't get crowded.

*latecomers can still see the shows but may not be able to see it at the same time as everyone else, depending on capacity

💎 There will also be an optional scavenger hunt with a prize for the first three winners (everyone else gets some candy)!

If you have any museum-specific questions (directions, what to see, etc.) feel free to @/DM me :-)

I DID IT GOT MY OPEN WATER DIVE CERTIFICATION WOOOOOOOOO

my friends showed up at the beach right when we were going out for our last dive and doing gear checks so we got some really cute pics!

the highlight of my day was seeing FIVE DIFFERENT SEA SLUG SPECIES!!!!

✨ opalescent nudibranch

🤡 clown nudibranch

🍋 monterey sea lemon

🤍 black tipped spiny dorid

and most importantly...

SORCERER'S DORID!!! it looked like a tiny little wizard hovering in the water when my friend illuminated it with her flash light! so so so cute! i've literally said that's what io would be as a sea slug (sorry for who i am as a person btw) i mean this is literally the same picture to me

anyways!!! yay!!! apparently the intense conditions + having to walk into the water with the cold water gear instead of having a boat make this one of the hardest places. to earn this first certification. so i'm very tied but very proud.

i will say i'm so glad it's a three day weekend so i can do absolutely nothing tomorrow lmao

I fully believe that conservatives do not want their tax dollars going to fund school lunches for children because they see children not as individual people but rather as extensions of their parents, and they view a child’s hunger as a moral failing of the parent to maintain their property rather than a hungry child being a vulnerable individual that deserves to be fed.

forever confused about the number of people on this site who think "children are property and not people" is a "right-wing" belief and not like. completely normalised among 90% of society

the belief that children are people is radical. it is wholly outside the Overton window. average "love is love" liberal will straight up say shit like "children do not have rights" with zero prompting.
