cant stop thinking about the camerons and the maybanks. the camerons are all about control and structure and perfection and appearances but the maybanks are just chaotic and dirty and broken and shameless. the camerons being eternally insecure whereas the maybanks are unshackled by their rot. despite ward and luke both coming from poverty, their reactions to the life they were born into are completely opposite. ward is forever running from where he came from, but luke knows this is who he is and where hes meant to be. get 25k from his son? lets gamble it all away. my kick ass boat that could be used to make money? hidden in a garage gathering dust. he has completely accepted his fate and encourages things to get worse for both himself and his son, needing to always drag jj down with him. for ward though, hes like the guy running from a boulder forever trying to reach higher highs or else he feels like a failure and he holds rafe to that standard, which is why he is eternally disappointed in his son and desperate to control sarah. ward and luke are both men addicted to their life but in opposite directions and their children suffer because of it
