[ID: Lightray and Orion from DC Comics, Lightray is wearing blue like his beta design and Orion has cat-like features, longer hair, and gnarled skin. They are kissing passionately, Lightray’s hands are in Orion’s hair, Orion is holding Lightray. The second image is the same with slightly altered colours. End ID]
KISS! was part of a bigger picture but it didnt fit
[ID: Illustration of Lightray and Orion from DC Comics, Lightray is leaning back while Orion is shirtless and clinging to his hip, half of Orion’s body is covered in scarring, his face half shifted to his true face. Around them are circuit patterns and three other closeups, Lightray crawling into Orion’s lap, Lightray with his hand on Orion’s shoulder, and Lightray leaning into Orion from behind with his hands on his shoulders. late 2021 Lightrion week day 6 - Alternate Universe! &
New Gods November 2023 - Week 4, Day 4: Alternate Realities!
once upon a time it was said that only one version of the New Gods exist across all Earths, but its rarely reflected after that. Most of these AUs are canon, some after ½ canon (featuring only one of the duo), and some are my own ideas :D This december is going on three years since I got into New Gods!

Closeups, detailed IDs under cut:
[ID: A full page illustration of Lightray from DC Comics, redrawn from the Orion solo by Walt Simonson. A closeup of Lightray’s eyes with furrowed brows, with a speech bubble saying “Unfortunately gentlemen, it was just close enough.” Beneath is Lightray descending from a blast of light, saying “I am Lightray.” A man is on each side of the image, one of them is saying “Huh? Who?”. Beneath is Lightray raising his hands and charging a solar blast, his words are written inside the solar energy: “I would have heard Orion’s cry from the other side of the galaxy. I intercepted your discharge.. and I have brought back his power.” At the bottom is Lightray firing his solar blasts, burning the two men to death. Lightray’s speech bubble says “Don’t bother comitting my name to memory.”, and is outlined by the flares from his attack. A sound effect reading “Skreachhtt!” extends over the bottom panel. End ID]
late 2021 Lightrion week day 5 - Favourite canon moment! From Orion #21 (2002)
Not specifically my favourite moment, but I do think its an important one for Lightray - how the events of the previous volumes have changed him, and how far he’s willing to go for Orion, even after Orion betrays his trust. Lightray becomes capable of violence as Orion becomes capable of peace etc etc etc, and it’s the last major Lightray scene until his death a few years later.
side by side with Simonson’s original drawing:
[ID: Two pages side by side, the original comicbook page comprising of four panels, and my redraw on the right. End ID]
Since it was a redraw, I prioritized making a cool poster over it being a legible comic page… Original page written & pencilled by Walt Simonson, with inks colours and letters by Bob Wiacek, Tatjana Wood, and John Workman.
