The GSA isn't wrong for their opinion, it's just a different perspective on things. They, i'm sure, is worried about gays at the school in general rather than the individual. It's great when you are in the masses and not open about things, but it really sucks to be that individual... <hugs> You aren't wrong at all for wanting to dance with your boyfriend, but i really don't think they are wrong for their opinions. maybe they could have done this in a nicer and much much clearer way <having you wait backstage and have a girl show up is incredibly wrong> but the intention behind it "seems" genuine. I hope you are able to recover after all of this... I can assure you college is usually a ton more accepting since all the special events are student-run.

Sweetie, you're not the bad guy at all. They should be more open about the idea of gay and lesbian couples running for dance royalty. It's unfair to students who are gay/lesbian, to say they can't run because the royalty positions are labeled heterosexually. They should change it to "Dance Royalty Pairings" or something catchy that is a unisex term, because their actions were discriminatory from beginning to end. They replaced you with a female because someone was offended, and nobody let you or your friend know. I wish I could help more, but I am sadly unable to do more than offer hugs, snuggles, and to continue eating souls using my magical chopsticks of doom.

Right now I have read almost every response to this thread, and every thing you have said. The answer to this is not gona be simple because from a technical point of view they are right, You are in fact a boy and cannot be a "princess" because it is related to a whole load of gay slurs and stereotypes that they probably don’t wish to be associated with.

You need to change your approach hunny if you want to fight your corner, Don’t tell them you want to be seen as a princess but as a second prince even if its not exactly what you want. This may alter how they see things because it would remove the male/female dynamics from the situation, If they are so sure you two cant make it to king and king then why should it matter if they have two princes?

You are not in the wrong here at all hunny and you are 100% not the bad guy, Your school is wrong by not pulling the 2 of you aside and letting you know what was happening and trying to fix it. They are wrong for covering it up and then trying there best to get you to just disappear into the back ground with no voice, so don’t feel you are wrong because your not just young and in love by the sounds of it ^_^.

any way I hope this hasn't hit you to hard hunny you sound like a sweet little guy and it is sickening that homophobia is still such a massive thing in western culture, they should have seen this solution to the problem and asked if you guys would mind being princes rather than prince and princess.
