Anyone know how to fix the punctuation on text submissions?

It's bad enough that FA's uploader can only handle certain filetypes for text, but then the bloody thing decides not to recognise speech marks and apostrophes. How do I fix that?

I replace all modern (cursive) punctuation marks with their ASCII equivalents before uploading. It's ... not great.
