Ok, I lied — one more Lana Beniko post this week, a wee silly WIP. 🥰🫣💕 Also introducing my light side Chiss Imperial Agent Veleri Meheele! Jerked around by the Sith one too many times before she finally goes rogue, Veleri flirts with Lana long before she trusts her… I like to think this one of their earlier conversations.
Lana Beniko was my first BioWare romance obsession and she is SO HARD to draw. Still, it’s worth trying. 💕 Her face is square and her mouth is small like a 1920s flapper girl and she’s androgynous and stunning and suffers no fools—including, of course, herself when she starts to fall for you.
She drinks brandy (sorry, bourbon!) while managing a spy network and swears she’ll tear the galaxy apart if you ever do anything that stupid ever again. If you haven’t met Lana, SWTOR makes you wade through 60 levels and three redesigns of her character before you finally get to the good part, but I promise it IS good. I’ve never been so happy to be called insufferable lol.
The thing about a really good ship is I need it to be equal parts sweet and fucked up. It’s like a lemonade. you want it half sour and half sweet because the two flavors are complementary. The love needs to be there so it can wreck their lives or they need to be wrecks so they can fall in love
Liking Neve Gallus isn’t enough I need a gun to protect her from misogynistic freaks who wilfully misunderstand her character and misinterpret her actions
Saw someone on TikTok call her a Bitch for no reason so I’d like to gently remind everyone that saying that you just don’t like a female character is fine, you don’t need to go straight to being derogatory over pixels!
from my personal observations over the past year: a) she’s a woman of colour b) she is super charming to boot c) she dares to be into the fanom’s favourite latino sexyman. that alone is a criminal offence which triggers 99.9% of weirdos who are jealous over pixels and consider her to be a competion to their rooks.
the argument about her attitude and tone of voice being boring and that she has no substance makes me laugh. being cynical and jaded is LITERALLY THE POINT for her and her character development. if they play her companion quests, the way she speaks changes over time and it’s noticeable through her body language as the game progresses. every companion goes through the motions but she’s not allowed to because she isn’t a cheery suck up right off the bat. she’s meant to have a flat tone, be a know-it-all, and most of all JADED AND CYNICAL. it’s what happens when you experience the same bullshit time and time again, with no hope of it changing. she presents herself the way she does because of people constantly undoing what she does with corruption. also if her storyline is played, she literally gets read to filth by aelia. aelia gives the answer in a cutscene on why neve is the way she is and you can visibly notice how neve reacts. neve haters are a different breed of stupid, i swear. god forbid a woman of color in a GAME not be presented as fan service and has an actual story behind her.
