we also regard dogs as “masculine” and cats as “feminine” to the point that it’s “weird” for men to love cats, women and gay men are stereotyped as liking cats, and creepiest of all, cats are stereotyped as “sexy” animals

Contrary to the BIG post saying that OP and a few commenters were acting the same as them, the symbolism is real. Everything is codified to enforce subtle oppressive force over us and to make sure we’re policing ourselves. And the reason everyone is blind to this policing is because it is woven into day to day culture: two genders, each have specific colors, childhood toys, gadgets, professions, clothing, hairstyles, domestic pet, vehicles, etc it’s why pink is for girls and blue is for boys, boys will always want a dog while girls will want a cat or be expected to want those.
