i love this new gen of pop stars so much
an absolutely humungous update they just keep getting better
I think this needs an important addendum:
Not only did Billie Eilish donate $11.5M, she also called out a room full of billionaires, including Mark Zuckerberg, directly to their faces, saying “If you’re a billionaire, why are you a billionaire? No hate, but, yeah, give your money away, shorties.”
The $11.5M she’s donating is about ¼ if her net worth. Imagine if a billionaire did that? If Mark Zuckerberg donated ¼ of his net worth, it would be about $55 BILLION… and he’s still have over $100 billion left.
And, yet, unsurprisingly, people are mad at Billie Eilish for what she said and not at the billionaires for hoarding all the money and resources
“to be loved is to be….” <3

there is this controversy going on on TikTok where a girl made a video about how she is unemployed and disabled due to currently going through cancer treatment and how the loss of SNAP benefits was going to effect her. and the MAGA crowd found her and ripped her to shreds because she was a young “healthy-looking” girl with dyed hair. the most baffling part was all of the people saying things like “My dad had cancer and he worked EVERYDAY until he died! No excuses, you lazy bitch!” which is soooo wild. it is crazy how many members of the conservative ‘blue collar’ crowd love to brag about being fucked over and killed by capitalism. that is not a flex, quite the opposite, if anything that is insanely pathetic and sad. maybe your daddy would still be alive if we had socialized medicine and better sick leave policies but no, he worked himself to fucking death and you want a 20 something young woman to die the same pathetic fate. we need to start telling these people ‘that is so sad, I feel sorry for you’ instead of pretending this is in the scope of good work ethic. because it’s fucked up the things they’re going through and patting themselves on the back for. maybe if they felt less proud of being fucked over by the system, they’d work to change it.
Look, it’s simple. If a person has to actively work to make money, they’re not “the rich” and they’re not the problem. A surgeon making $200k a year still stops making money if they stop showing up to do surgery, because they’re still selling their labor. The radical discrepancies in how we value different skills are certainly a problem, but the guy who makes money when he doesn’t even get out of bed is the one making money on the value of other people’s labor.
On Writing Artists
✧ creating beauty out of a mess and calling it therapy.
✧ jumping between “I’m a genius” and “I should quit forever” in 3 minutes flat.
✧ surviving on self-doubt, and validation.
✧ turning heartbreak into projects because at least pain pays rent.
✧ messy studios that look like the inside of their brain, cluttered but alive.
✧ being unable to separate creation from confession.
✧ overanalyzing color palettes like it’s philosophy.
✧ crying over a project you haven’t even started.
✧ getting defensive when someone calls your work “cute.”
✧ that godlike moment when something finally looks right.
✧ people assuming art is easy when it’s literally your emotional blood on canvas.
✧ burning out, starting again, repeating endlessly.
✧ realizing your art is saying things you’re too scared to say out loud.
✧ giving away pieces of yourself and pretending it’s “just a painting.”
✧ never really finishing anything, just abandoning it lovingly.
“THEN WHAT THE HELL, SHELDON?!”

gentle reminder about the scam thats going around at the moment.
if someone messages you telling you they got scammed by someone with similar username to you and that they’ve accidentally reported your account, do not engage.
message will look something like this:
again, DO NOT ENGAGE.
a friend has just lost access to their account because of this, and the reason I didn’t fall for it is because I remembered seeing posts recently about it being a scam. so I too am spreading the word in the hope that maybe you will remember this post if you receive a similar dm.

Listen, I’m having fun playing with the ultra patriotic voice, but after a couple years in blue-collar landscaping jobs, you really do need to phrase things like that.
“I’m pretty sure that fella ain’t here legally.”
“Well, that ain’t your business Chip, it’s his.”
They hate being preached to. If you pull out words like ‘gender wage gap’ they’ll tell you you’re brainwashed by the far left media.
“He’s one of them transgenders.”
“He got freedoms too, Jimmy.”
Also, please understand that SO often the real issue these people have is that they just want to say something inappropriate. They don’t like being told they can’t say “fag”, so they’d say it for a reaction, just like a teenager would.
Shut down the conversation without reacting.
“His dick, not mine” will get you much further to shutting that guy down than “well it’s really inappropriate to call someone a slur while I’m the job site”.
And that’s the point. To shut them up. To make them quit saying shit like that. The first one makes him seem kinda weird for caring about what that guy does with his dick. The second one gives him something to fight against and make a big deal about.
