I assure you miss mech engineer the ability for my victims hounds pilots to feel every impact, peircing and system overload of their mechs as if it was their own flesh and blood being mangled and destroyed on the field of battle is vital for mission success.
I think one of the best things I learned from my last therapist was the idea that when there's a box in your mind you need to open, you don't have to open it all the way on the first try.
what I mean is that she said "you didn't deserve <bad thing that happened to you>" and I said, "I feel like I know that intellectually, but I don't really believe it deep down". and she said, "do you think you can try to believe it just a little bit, as an experiment?" and I started crying lmao
trying to change a core belief entirely all at once is scary, especially when it exists as a protective measure. try giving yourself a cheeky bit of plausible deniability! you're just dipping your toes in the water of self-esteem, you're just having a little wade! you don't have to go swimming right away, and you can always step out if you want. (but the longer you spend in the water, the more you start to understand you're actually safe there...hm, who could have predicted this...)
so that's my advice: if there's something real and true you can't seem to believe, take some time to try and really believe it just a little bit, even if you're only pretending at first. climb the staircase one step at a time instead of trying to put one foot all the way at the top!
In Super Mario 64 DS, normally only Mario can get past the Endless Stairs to get to the Bowser in the Sky course and fight the final battle against Bowser. However, using glitches, it is possible for Luigi to get past the Endless Stairs as well.
This causes the cutscene after defeating Bowser to become glitched. Normally, touching the big star as Mario turns him into Wing Mario and starts a cutscene of him flying away. However, touching it as Luigi turns him into Wing Luigi, which is a form that is not supposed to exist outside of multiplayer mode. He cannot move in this form and will remain standing for the rest of the cutscene. In addition, a Mario is also spawned, and also does nothing.
The explanation for this is that under normal circumstances, the playable Mario despawns and is surreptitiously replaced with a cutscene Mario. However, the code does not state "remove the player character", but instead "remove the player Mario", so it fails to remove Luigi, while also spawning the Mario that is supposed to replace the removed Mario. In the end, neither the anomalous Wing Luigi nor the cutscene Mario are equipped to correctly handle the situation and simply continue standing around until the scene fades out.

The Butterfly Boy: a Fairytale.
A fairytale about the feeling of waiting on the edge of massive existential societal tragedies you are powerless to prevent, the way that we scapegoat the victims of broader societal failures as if they were the Cause, and the way that we treat children who will never grow into a "conventional" adulthood.
Thank you to everyone who followed along as I was sharing the pages for these past couple months! <3 :_:
Shout out to the phrase “I’m going to become the joker” for capturing a very specific and real emotion
