In the three years of Coalition Government, the taxpayer has been losing money hand over fist as the state sells public assets for less than they are worth, and buys private assets at more than they are worth. In just the last week we have seen the the undervaluing of Royal Mail shares and the state guaranteeing EDF Energy twice the market rate for energy produced by their new nuclear power stations. Is the UK Government stupid, corrupt, or both?

Voluntary work
I started volunteering at a local day centre a couple of weeks ago to provide help to people using the two old, slow, Windows infested computers they have there. I've helped three people open and use their own webmail accounts (Gmail seems easier to do that Hotmail) to keep in touch with family and friends; shown someone else how to copy and paste text(!); another person wanted to know 'how to use the internet' so I showed them how to Google it and click through and read the search results; it's been pretty slow going and very basic stuff. It's only ten minutes walk from where I live, though, so I don't mind too much when there's no one there who wants to do anything - I just come home.
Today, when the cat puked on the bed, just as I was about to get ready to go out, I phoned them to let them know I would be a bit late. 'Don't worry about it,' said the assistant manager. 'We've got the engineers in today and they've moved the computers while they work, so they're out of use today.'

Computers are still too difficult for people like my mother to use. Touch-screens may be on the rise, but I haven't had a great experience personally with tablets.

Last of my shallots, onions, tomatoes and peppers.
Thinking of chopping and frying up the green tomatoes with some of the shallots, and adding some black molasses sugar, and maybe a bit of mango chutney, to make my own chutney.

That definitely looks like chutney material. As I didn't grow tomatoes this year it's one of the few years I've not done green tomato chutney recently.
seeing that makes me feel hungry! :-)
