Avoid this insurance if you expect fair reimbursement – extremely evasive handling and delayed answer

We purchased a “Top” travel insurance policy expecting protection in case of real travel disruptions. Unfortunately, our experience with Heymondo / IMA Ibérica has been extremely disappointing and feels deliberately evasive.

Our journey was severely disrupted by a chain of events completely outside our control:

Our ferry from Coron to El Nido was cancelled without prior notice, with all sea routes suspended for days.

As a mitigation measure, we purchased an alternative flight.

That flight was then cancelled as well due to weather conditions.

As a direct result, we were objectively unable to reach El Nido on time and lost prepaid hotels and tours.

Despite this very clear causal chain, the insurer chose to fragment the events and interpret the policy in the narrowest possible way.

They:

Ignored the clear link between the cancelled ferry, cancelled flight, and the loss of hotels and tours.

Used highly literal and restrictive interpretations of the policy to deny coverage.

Argued that losses at the destination “do not apply” simply because the delay happened elsewhere.

Rejected the application of “trip interruption” and “loss of services” despite these being explicitly mentioned in the policy wording.

In short, the insurance covered only the cheapest and least relevant part of the claim, while evading responsibility for the real financial losses.

This experience has seriously undermined our trust. If you are looking for an insurer that stands by you in complex but genuine travel disruptions, this is not it. The policy looks comprehensive on paper, but when you actually need it, the interpretation becomes extremely restrictive. Adding a delayed response to our problems.

We will be escalating this matter to the insurance regulator and sharing this experience publicly to ensure other travelers are aware.

SCAM! Heymondo Promised 24/7 Support and Delivered ZERO

⭐️ 1/5 - Disappointing and Unreliable Travel Insurance (Heymondo)
⚠️ BEWARE OF AGENT PROMISES! ⚠️ What Heymondo agents assure you before purchase WILL NOT be true when you need to file a claim. This insurance is characterized by non-existent communication and using technicalities to deny coverage.
❌ Medical Emergency Service (Non-Existent 24/7 Support)
Around the third week of my trip, I fell ill. Despite their advertised 24/7 medical attention, their support channels are useless in a real crisis.
• Communication Failure: I lost my voice, and they have no alternative channels like WhatsApp or video calls with a doctor—making communication impossible. Their emergency line is strictly for medical emergencies and they will hang up if you try to address anything else.
• Delayed and Useless Response: After finally getting an email, their only solution was to recommend two distant clinics three hours away by car, completely ignoring my location and immediate need. They never offer virtual doctor consultation.
• Claim Denial: Since I had to resolve the issue myself by going to a local pharmacy, they later stated they would not cover the costs because their 'solution' was for me to travel to those distant centers. They barely respond to emails, often taking until the next day.
❌ Baggage and Assistance (Total Lack of Support)
At the end of my trip, one of my bags was lost during a connecting flight. I tried to contact Heymondo immediately, explaining I had no way to get home without necessary items.
• Zero Assistance: I used the emergency number (they hung up), the email, and the app—none of which provided an answer. I was left completely unsupported.
• Contradiction and Denial: I was explicitly assured by an agent before buying the policy that coverage extended to the final day, but when I finally got a response the next day, they refused the promised economic compensation. Their justification was that I had already arrived at my country of residence, even though I had nowhere to go without my belongings.
• They simply refused to acknowledge the situation or offer any support for the inconvenience, providing a form that resulted in the exact same denial—no compensation because I had already arrived home.
Summary: Heymondo advertises itself as a modern, reliable insurer, but in a real crisis, their channels fail, their staff is inflexible, and they use technicalities to deny claims. I cannot recommend this insurance.

Regarding baggage coverage, we must follow the conditions agreed upon at the time of purchase. As explained during the contracting process, coverage does not apply to delays on the return flight, only on the outbound journey. On the return fly only total lost is covered.

Amazing experience and super prompt client service

Amazing experience!

Heymondo is one of the most efficient and prompt travel insurance companies I have worked with. After the terrible service provided by TAP (the flight company) in giving a response to the inconveniences caused by their own cancellation of the flight, Heymondo was a light of hope in the bleakness of unanswered emails and long waiting list call centers.

I would absolutely recommend Heymondo to anyone travelling and I will definitely use it again in the future!
