CONTRIBUTOR HOSTAGE
I see many of you got fraudulent behavior as a customer. I suggest you do credit card chargebacks that would at least get your money back. I wanted to share my experience as a contributor there. Stupid me for sending my precious images there.
Did you know that if they block someone account for copyright infringement, they retain their images, their revenue, and continue selling their images forever, which mean you might be downloading and licensing stolen images?
My images has no copyright issues but unfortunately are kept being sold there, I see a small trickling revenue going in, but getting that revenue paid might be impossible.
1- Before i have been asking for YEARS to have my images REMOVED from this site, but they NEVER do that. THAT is fraudulent.
2- Because asking to submit more images before sending the money, THAT is FRAUDULENT.
3- I got paid in the past, but it took 2 MONTHS of harassment to get the payment as the other manager just ignored us.
4- Because in their policy I saw that if you ban or block and account, you KEEP THE IMAGES AND ACCOUNT ACTIVE, whip mean you STEAL the images and keep the revenue, THAT is fraudulent also.
All that I mentioned above is fraudulent behavior. Now they ask that I send new images to get paid!! Why would I want to send more images that you can steal any day to get my payment? You can decide just to refuse the images, or take 6 months to review the images just to delay the payment and keep the money. Again, that is fraudulent.
We used to have individual license and…
We used to have individual license and i used one of their image to great on Festival on my "Freelancing, single person business page" Now after 5 years they are threatening with copyright notice which we don't remember how and when we used it. Complete scam.
SCAM ALERT: Predatory "Copyright Trolling" & Harassment Tactics
BEWARE! This company is engaging in unethical "Copyright Trolling."
The Trap: They are sending threatening automated emails demanding payment for images I downloaded 5 years ago (2020-2021) which were clearly marked as "Free License" at the time. They are trying to retroactively apply 2026 pricing to past free usage.
Harassment: Despite my detailed email proving that my usage was personal and under their Free Policy, they ignore it. Their system continues to spam me with "24-hour deadline" threats using bots.
Extortion: This is not about copyright protection; it is aggressive upselling and extortion. They bait you with free content and threaten you years later.
Verdict: Stay away from Pngtree if you don't want to be blackmailed 5 years later. A completely unprofessional and desperate business model.
FirstCopyright Should Be Enforced With Clarity, Not Intimidation
First, I would like someone from PNGtree to clearly explain why only the Enterprise plan is presented as a solution to an alleged copyright infringement, while no other plan is considered valid. I have not seen any legally sound explanation or justification for this claim.
Second, these emails are being sent with subject lines that reference Instagram or Facebook profile names, apparently because those profiles publicly display an email address. This raises serious questions about the legal validity of such notices. Who exactly is being addressed — which legal entity or company? And on PNGtree’s side, who is making the claim? There is no clear identification of a responsible person or a legally registered company with location details. There is only an email address provided, and from what many people report, responses are either very slow or nonexistent. Looks like they used some AI for mass mail campaign to get some money fast as they are broke, with many people using not AI for generating unique graphics.
Third, many of the people receiving these emails are former users — individuals or freelancers who at some point had an account, downloaded assets legally, and no longer have an active subscription. In some cases, freelancers downloaded assets under their own accounts while working for clients.
If an image was downloaded without a watermark, that alone indicates it was legally obtained at the time. Otherwise, it would visibly contain a watermark.
This approach feels far more like pressure and intimidation than a transparent and fair copyright enforcement process, and it seriously undermines trust in the platform.
I am shocked by PNGTree’s approach
I am shocked by PNGTree’s approach. They sent me multiple emails claiming copyright infringement without providing any proof—no IDs, links, or details of alleged usage. Their threats of legal action and requirement to upgrade to an “enterprise plan” felt like coercive pressure, not legitimate copyright enforcement.
I have reviewed all my products: none of the images they claim to be mine were used commercially, and they have no evidence. This seems to be a pattern of aggressive marketing and intimidation against users. Highly unethical.
....
I signed up for a lifetime premium membership to this site in 2022, and they are now threatening legal action if I don't purchase a enterprise plan.
I've downloaded 128 images at 2022, most of which I haven't used. Also, after receiving their email, I was able to download all of the personal commercial licenses for the images I downloaded from the site. Those licenses mean the images was allowed for personal commercial use.
I am an individual freelancer and do not have a legal entity.
I have responded to their emails three times, stating that I am an individual, not a company, and asking for proof of my commercial use of the images or copyright infringement.
They still don't provide me with any evidence or URL, they continue to threaten legal action if I don't purchase a enterprise plan.
This company is based in China, and I will ignore them for now, but their emails are making me very uncomfortable and uneasy.
-------------------------
Today(the 28th, January) instead of a reply to my email on the 26th, I received a new email stating that they were offering a New Year's discount on Enterprise plan until the end of January. They still cited copyright infringement issues.
They said they would give me five days, but now I'm curious to know what they will say after that. I won't be responding them anymore.
The same issue as the rest
The same issue as the rest. Threatening to sue you 1500 for a image used after a period of time. They can't even show you the prove that you are using the images. Very Bad and irresponsible company.

A scam company trying to intimidate…
A scam company trying to intimidate people into their enterprise plan by sending emails of alleged infringment, I have never heard nor used their products yet they keep sending me these emails.
Total spam-bot behavior
100% Scam Company. Never pay for these threatening emails. Once they have your email, they never let go. Even after deleting my account, I am still getting promotional junk sent to me. Do not give them your primary email address unless you want it cluttered with daily ads you didn't ask for.
⭐ 1 star
⭐ 1 star – Scam-like behaviour
This company operates in a very questionable way. They are threatening users with legal action unless they upgrade to an expensive Enterprise plan, which feels like intimidation rather than legitimate licensing enforcement.
They demand that you provide proof, instead of proving that you ever used their images in the first place — which is completely backwards and frankly absurd.
The whole approach feels aggressive, misleading, and unethical. If this is how they treat users, it suggests serious issues with how the business is being run.
Avoid this website entirely. Do not download or use anything from PNGTree.
Just another scam company trying to…
Just another scam company trying to threaten and make money unscrupulously.
100% Scam Company. Never pay for these threatening emails.
I have also received several threatening emails from this company, claiming copyright infringement and stating they would only drop the "lawsuit" if I subscribed to their "Enterprise Plan." For the record, these emails were all automatically flagged as spam, so I didn't even notice them until much later. Even if they use urgent subject lines like "Response required within 48 hours" or "Payment due within 24 hours," there is absolutely no need to panic.
It is natural to feel scared and overwhelmed when you open an email filled with plausible legal jargon, threats of a lawsuit, and demands that must be met within a few hours. This is exactly what this company preys on. They are truly malicious.
Back in 2020, I subscribed to a 3-month Personal Premium Plan from them. I draw as a hobby and thought it would be nice to have some resources, so I downloaded a few images. I do not work in an industry that uses these graphics, nor do I operate any personal social media or websites. There was zero possibility for those downloaded assets to be leaked or exposed externally. Furthermore, I understood that the Personal Premium Plan allowed for some level of commercial use anyway. I can guarantee that the "copyright infringement" they are claiming is non-existent.
I was flustered at first, but I began to investigate because several things felt suspicious: the emails were in the spam folder, they lacked any actual evidence while asserting my "guilt," their claims were inconsistent, and they immediately jumped to demanding payment. Fortunately, I found countless similar stories on Reddit and Trustpilot, which convinced me that this is a complete scam.
Furious, I sent a reply detailing my situation and demanded they either provide clear evidence of my supposed infringement or stop this harassment immediately. It’s incredibly frustrating that they ruined my weekend.
I am sharing this review on Trustpilot in the hope that no one else falls victim to this company. Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences here; it kept me from feeling anxious. Below is the reply I received today :
Hi,
Thank you for your letter and detailed description of your current usage. We apologize for the inconvenience. If you have ensured that the previous use of materials is in line with the scope of personal commercial use, you do not need to upgrade to the enterprise plan, please feel free to use it; we have completed the preliminary confirmation of the use of materials with you to ensure the use is standardized and avoid the risk of infringement due to non-standard use of images.
Thank you again for your support for copyright protection! If you have any other questions or needs, please feel free to contact us. We are happy to serve you!
(Initially, they claimed they had secured all evidence of unauthorized commercial usage through their investigation and had completed all legal preparations, but now they are suddenly changing their tune? This is absolutely ridiculous.)

Scam company
Scam company. Guess they are on the verge of bankruptcy because they are threatening to sue everyone if they don’t take an Enterprise plan. Illegal, but they are trying. Also they ask you for proof, instead of them proving you ever used any of the images. Crazy.
Never get anything from this website!!!
I purchased a lifetime individual…
I purchased a lifetime individual license and was always satisfied with the service. A year later, they are claiming copyright infringement and use of the images for commercial purposes (which is not permitted under the individual license). They are not showing any links that prove the infringement; they simply state that the downloads made do not comply with the terms and conditions because they were for commercial use.
In the European Union, such a requirement must be authorized separately from the general terms and conditions. This is because it is an unbalanced term between the provider and the customer. The contract is therefore invalid as presented to European customers.
Despite my timely response to their email, they now claim they never received a reply and are demanding an upgrade to a commercial license. The individual license was sold at the time for $99 on a lifetime basis. The lifetime commercial license currently costs $999.

They're sending threatening emails to…
They're sending threatening emails to people accusing them of 'copyright infringement', and the solution is to buy one of their plans, or they will pursue legal action. They absolutely will not pursue legal action against you, so don't worry, and do not be intimidated by them. Ignore their requests. DO NOT give them any of your money! It's a scam.
Copyright Trap Website – Misleading “Free” Assets and Risky Licensing
PNGTree is a dangerous website for creators and should be avoided, especially for commercial use.
This platform promotes many assets as “free,” but the reality is far different. The licensing system is unclear, misleading, and inconsistent.
This strongly resembles a copyright trap.
PNGTree cannot be trusted for professional or commercial projects. There are many safer alternatives with clear and honest licensing. I strongly warn other creators to stay away from this website to avoid serious problems.
They are continually harassing me for…
They are continually harassing me for an enterprise membership, even though I have owned this business for 4 years and have never heard of them. Nor do I have the access details. They are using multiple versions of the work emails, so I can only assume this is a hoax. The last email came through with hundreds of clients' access codes.
I have replied, but they do not answer my queries.
