Dreadful software
Dreadful software. Completely cut me off from the internet so that I couldn't access databases I needed to use for my degree. I'm so behind in my work from being blocked access to my university platform to download materials! I'm furious
Useless
Useless, expencive. And comes preeinstalled with reminders for you to get premium, that is impossible to remove.
Utter sham and garbage
I'd give it a o if I could
I'd give it a o if I could. I had it for two days and decided to cancel. Good luck with that. I'm going to write a review every week. My computer is at it's end of life as the say. I'm getting a new one on 02-13-2026. They 50 bucks but no more. I'm going to put a good word in for them at the better business B.
McAfee aggressive actions.
I bought a new D/T computer. It came with 1 mth McAfee security free. That has finished. Now McAfee bombard me with treats that my computer has 3, 4, sometimes 5 viruses. Every 30 seconds or so a window pops up WARNING, INFESTED, TAKE ACTION AAAAAAAGH. I went into settings and removed their ap. No difference Still they bombard me. I went into their website to try and unsubscribe - not possible. The only option they give me to stop this bombardment is to subscribe for a minimum of a year. I just want rid of McAfee annoying the hell out of me.
I cancelled my McAfee subscription
I cancelled my McAfee subscription, and now they are sending me all kinds of pop-ups trying to get me to buy it again. I have tried to contact them to stop all this nonsense, and they ignore me. I am going to have to turn them into the Better Business Bureau and possibly get my attorney involved. BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE MCAFEE. They are not good people!
Free cover never allowed on PC … for correct time
Purchased a PC with free 2 yrs of cover, The supplier currys advised the cover could be claimed by the 2 cards but McAfee only accepted one yrs' cover unable to get any response from them all automated systems.
Too many up sell pop up ads
Too many up sell pop up ads! They are out of control. I am looking for a new anti virus for multiple devices. I left Norton for the same annoying up sell pop up ads! It's like they think they are an airline and can charge additional for a bag / seat choice. Out of control!!!
Worse than a virus.
Worse than a virus.. It slows down my computer more than any other software, and every time I have to manually re-connect the firewall and web security, when I start my compouter.
I've been scammed
This is how I got ensnared by McAfee. For about a year I got many phone calls from scammers who identify themselves as McAfee technicians. I did not talk to anyone until recently. They requested to access the computer remotely to check that the system works properly. They installed some software and proceeded to work on it. What they were actually doing was stealing my data and my identity. Sudden large withdrawals from
my checking accounts were transferred out. In addition they maxed out my credit cards AND opened
5 new credit cards and maxed them out. I contacted the financial institutions involved and I am still trying to recoup my funds. My credit rating went from 820 to 700
When I tried to find the phone for McAfee customer service on the home page, there was NO info that I could use, just marketing. I went to google again, I found another page that listed the phone number for McAfee, but unfortunately it was a scam. I finally called McAfee I was told that McAfee does not call customers directly. told lAlso, the Google listing takes you to a page where they promote their services. there is NO phone number or customer service info. II searched google again and I found a MvAfee customer service. I called the number but it was not McAfee, but the scammers and they got more info from me.
When I finally reached McAfee customer service, I
recited the whole incident, they listened politely but asked no questions (I had some info) but they asked no questions and offered no solutions. When I called yesterday I was told that they are working on it. DISAPPOINTING. Please take this lesson and protect yourself, trust nobody and beeify
Extremely Disappointed - Poor Support and Outdated Practices
I'm writing this review after an incredibly frustrating experience with McAfee's customer support that has left me questioning why I ever chose this company.
The Issue:
I accidentally purchased the wrong plan and contacted support the very next day to cancel and switch to the correct one. What should have been a simple fix turned into an absolute nightmare.
Outdated and Invasive Verification Process:
Despite being logged into my account, where McAfee has full access to all my information, their support team refused to help me without going through an absurdly outdated verification process. They actually asked me to provide my credit card details over the webchat ( full details number, ccv, exp date).
In 2026, this is completely unacceptable and honestly feels like a security risk.
Here's what makes this even more ridiculous: they have the ability to send verification codes via SMS or email (standard practice for every other company), but they chose not to use this simple, secure method. Instead, they insisted on practices that feel like they're straight out of the 1980s.
Zero Help When I Needed It:
All I wanted was to cancel a mistaken purchase made less than 24 hours earlier and get the right plan. The support team was unhelpful, inflexible, and seemed more interested in making the process difficult than actually assisting a paying customer.
Bottom Line:
Between the misleading information during purchase, the archaic verification requirements, and the complete lack of helpful support, I cannot recommend McAfee to anyone. There are plenty of other antivirus options out there with modern customer service practices and actual support when you need it.
Save yourself the headache and choose a company that values its customers and operates in the current century.
They are trash
They are trash, it is pay to to win equivilant of a video game. you pay 159.99 for a basic service, then when they find an issue then you need to pay another 30 to 50 bucks to remove that problem, or they find your information online and then you need to pay them to remove that. trash. why would i want a service of 159.99 that doesnt do anything about the problem, it just says I have them.
Keeps sending me spam
Keeps sending me spam, scam and phishing E-mails from randomly generated addresses. Unsubscribing does not work. Their pricing and subscription models are predatory and misleading. McAfee offers no useful product anymore, it turned into a shady, evil scammer company. What a shame!
The complete opposite
The only time its scanned an actual virus is once. Just once. the rest of the time it's only scanned the safe stuff as viruses. I've deleted it of my computer. Mcafee if your reading this review, improve your damn anti virus
Predatory behaviour through forced auto-renewals
The renewal process of this company is predatory. I bought a pre-paid activation retail code. Upon trying to activate it,you are then forced to provide credit card details for automatic renewal in the hope you forget to cancel your subscription and get hit with an £80 fee. You can not skip this step to activate the product you have just paid for. This is sickening. Not buying a subscription ever again.
Scammers do not download.
Scammers, one star is one too many ! Had to purchase their protection at £39.99 and autorenew no otherway after they filled my computor screen with annoying pop ups saying banking details could be scammed as soon as delete the pops ups another took its place in seconds.Tried to download but wouldnt let me(thank god),so had to get professional help to clear all McAfee rubbish off my computor, what a game! Went through Paypal so trying to get my £39.99 back ,also went on McAfees bullshit website and after along time found the autorenew off button.Stay away total scam
I cancelled my automatic subscription…
I cancelled my automatic subscription with Mcafee, yet today they attempted to take £114.99 from my account. I had already cancelled the card due to reading negative reviews. Web searches describes them as having aggressive billing policies. I describe them as fraudsters.
Beware of this company
Beware of this company. I cancelled my subscription before the renewal date -which they acknowledged.
I was shocked and angry that they had the termerity to take a subscription from me for £164. I contacted them and was informed that it would be repaid. Which has not happened. I paid this through PayPal and they were supposed to help me get my money back-which I have now been told has been refused. How do I justice ??
Avoid McAfee
I suggest avoiding this company. I purchased a tablet from Curry's that was on special offer as a present for a relative. Apparently, unknowingly, the "hidden" deal was an annual McAfee subscription. An annual fee of around 110GBP was taken. I complained (on the telephone) to McAfee. The person at McAfee was helpful and cancelled my subscription. However a refund was refused as I was "beyond the 30 day" limit. I cannot complain specifically about the 30 day issue, but I do feel "tricked" into the initial subscription. Probably there was some fine print in the discounted deal that explained it, but as with other similarly devious companies, this was no doubt buried in the blurb, in the hope that that the payee doesn't notice or forgets about it. Unscrupulous? Dishonest? Scam-like? Or purely my lack of diligence? I leave that for you to judge.
I wanted to cancel my subscription to…
I wanted to cancel my subscription to Mcafee which was extremely difficult including 6 months written notice in advance. Having finally got confirmation of my accepted cancellation I turned off 'auto renewal' and uninstalled the program from my computer. 3 months later I found that Mcafee had reversed the 'auto renewal' and taken the money from my bank!! Thankfully my bank sorted it out and I got my money back. However, and the really scary part is the without the program on my computer the still managed to access it!!! Now, all of a sudden I am unable to open many programs and and have sent the computer to be cleaned, I have also asked them to check for any Mcafee interference. This is a disgrace and typical of large organisations bullying the ordinary susciber.
