When my full fibre service failed due…

When my full fibre service failed due to a poor initial installation, TalkTalk responded exactly as a provider should. They took the issue seriously, arranged an Openreach engineer within 24 hours, and followed through until the fault was fully resolved. No excuses, no delays just clear communication and decisive action. This is what real customer service looks like. Credit to TalkTalk for handling it properly.

Royal Mail service has seriously…

Royal Mail service has seriously declined.

On 26/01/2026, I had three parcels booked for collection. No driver attended, yet I received emails falsely claiming collection was attempted. We have CCTV proving no one came.

On 28/01/2026, a driver pushed a package through the letterbox and drove off without checking for a collection. I had to call him back. He was dismissive and claimed he “had no label” despite the parcel being ready to scan.

I’ve raised similar complaints by phone before, but nothing changes. False records and poor conduct show a pattern, not a one-off.

Severn Trent were excellent. They resolved the overflowing drains for us and the surrounding neighbourhood just a day before Christmas. The team was professional, efficient, and reassuring during a stressful situation. Thanks to their quick action, Christmas celebrations were saved and parties didn’t have to be cancelled. Really appreciated their hard work and dedication.

Corgi Home Plan

All of our bathrooms were blocked, and the toilets were bubbling and overflowing. We contacted Corgi to arrange for an engineer to resolve the issue. An engineer was scheduled, and approximately three hours later we received a call informing us that he was about to leave for the visit.

However, about ten minutes before that call, we discovered that several other homes in the neighbourhood were experiencing the same problem. They had already contacted Severn Trent Water, so I called them as well. Severn Trent identified the issue as a wider network problem and resolved it earlier today.

As a result, I cancelled the engineer’s visit. I would like to note that Corgi were very efficient throughout the process. This was my first experience with the company, and they certainly deserve my respect.

I’ve been a Matalan member for nearly 25 years. I used to drop my children off for tuition nearby and would spend the time browsing in the Matalan store — and I always ended up buying something! Their Lincoln products for men have always been great quality and excellent value for money. After all these years, Matalan continues to be a reliable and affordable brand.

I’ve been buying from Manuka Doctor for…

I’ve been buying from Manuka Doctor for several years, and I can honestly say their products are excellent. The quality has always been consistent, and I’ve been happy with what I’ve purchased.

However, their pricing strategy is disappointing. They constantly send out “special offers” and “discounts,” but when you do the math, the final price often works out to be the same as what you’ve paid before. It feels more like a sales tactic than a genuine saving.

The frequent promotions look good on the surface, but in the end, the real selling price doesn’t seem to change much. I’ll keep using the products because they’re great, but I wish the pricing was more transparent.

Great Product …

I recently purchased the De’Longhi Distinta X Design 4 Slice Toaster (CTI4003.M). It works perfectly well—toast comes out even, and the dual browning controls are convenient if you’re preparing different types of bread. The reheat, defrost, and bagel functions all do what they’re supposed to.

That said, I didn’t notice a significant difference compared to other competitive products in the same price range. For me, it ultimately came down to personal preference and liking the design.

Overall, a solid toaster that performs as expected, but not dramatically different from other options on the market.

Great Value and Reliable Performance

I recently bought the Nisbets 4.7I Buffalo Airpot HE153 750W hot water dispenser, and I am really pleased with it. I have used Addis products for years, but I actually found the Nisbets model to be better value while doing the exact same job. The build quality feels solid, it heats efficiently, and it’s been very straightforward to use.

What really stood out to me is the warranty, Nisbets offers a 2 year warranty compared to the 1 year warranty I used to get with Addis. That extra peace of mind makes a big difference, especially for something I use regularly.

Overall, great product, good value for money, and a brand I would happily buy from again and it’s highly recommend.

Domestic and General and their NUTS

I telephoned Scottish Power and the call was transferred to Domestic and General, their underwriters. There was a water leak from the radiator joint which I explained to the girl in their call centre somewhere abroad. The water was sipping from the radiator pipe from the upper floor onto the ceiling above the main lounge.
The combination boiler stopped working due to the leak. The call centre girl offered an appointment for the following day. I explained to the girl that someone has to attend immediately as the leak in 24 hours slot will cause an enormous water damage to the building and the contents into thousands of pounds.
The call centre employees working abroad would not understand the situation I was implying.
They were helpless. I cancelled the following day appointment and called someone who came almost immediately due to the nature of the situation.
The radiator repair took a few minutes to rectify, dried the ceiling below, used a primer coat and a brush of paint, He was at the property for nearly 45 minutes including a cup of tea.
I personally filled the boiler that took no more than 5 minutes. I am a cancer patient but managed well.
I told the call centre girl to lodge a complaint on my behalf.
I have received a shocking letter from someone at Domestic and General that a full investigation took place and the complaint. “ The letter State your complaint is being upheld”. Attached were some leaflets about financial ombudsman service for me to waste more time.
No wonder these companies are going under because of the resources they use.
These companies like domestic and general and Scottish power needs a few competent employees working from their heart, a few complainants, less workers sitting at the desk sending pre printed letters about upheld complaints.
These companies need restructuring, getting rid of incompetent guys like the one sent me a letter, organise from the bottom to the top.
The company has completely misunderstood my needs, they wrote the complaint and they upheld the complaint. Where is the management???
You hear a message that they have been established for a century. I have known companies established for a far longer than D&G who have gone bankrupt. It could be you next, Domestic and General.
Do not be proud of the length of your establishment, learn from your own experience and an enormous mistakes.

Good Brand but Awful Customer Reviews on Facebook

RAC is a competitive brand but AA is slightly better as they were selling their breakdown covers at 50% a day earlier with free spouse cover. I missed their deal so the second choice was RAC because I have used them via HSBC bank.
After receiving a reply from the RAC, I have read some recent reviews and amazed at some awful stories from their members. I did not know how bad the service is.
