Modern Pony, Curly, and Johnny go trick or treating even as teens because 1: Free candy and 2: Darry doesn’t want Pony at any dangerous parties. Pony isn’t actually safer though because he’s always doing some dumb shit with Curly, like pushing each other in the road or breaking open and eating glow sticks. Johnny is there for supervision but he gets dragged into the antics every time.

I think that Ponyboy kind of gets better at hiding things from Darry and Sodapop post canon. He tells them about things more, but because he spends most of his time with them, especially now since Johnny is dead, he wants to keep some thing to himself. This includes places he goes by himself, his relationship with Curly, secret diaries or writings (I kind of believe he doesn't show them or any of the gang the essay he wrote about them because of this but idk), so he just kind of hides things because he doesn't want to tell anyone everything about his life.

He doesn’t tell anyone everything, because that was what he did with Johnny. He told Johnny everything, and look how that ended. He has this kind of belief where if people don’t know too much about him, then he can’t hurt them. So his brothers don’t know about him and Curly, Curly doesn’t know about the nightmares (the ones where Curly dies because of him), no one knows about how much aspirin his takes in a day. He’s more open about things, but there are certain parts of his life that he keeps under lock and key

Absolutely

-both of them are greasers

-Katherine Patty Connor is Mrs. Curtis full and maiden name

-Katherine’s dad was a pastor and an asshole

-Darrel’s parents weren’t as bad, but they still kinda sucked. They didn’t approve of K&D’s relationship at all

-they got together in their junior year of highschool

-Two-Bit’s mom is a friend of theirs from highschool, that’s why the Mathews are so close to the Curtises

-Katherine got pregnant with Darry at 19 (almost twenty)

-Katherine’s favorite flower is a daisy, Darrel’s is buttercups

-they got married a few months before Darryl was born and then moved in together

-Darrel calls her Kat

-Katherine named Darryl, she just KNEW he was gonna be a boy and was set on naming him after Darrel

-They were holding hands when they died

-Darrel worked at the construction company that Darry works at. The main reason he got the job was because the owner liked Darrel Sr

-neither of them ever really drank. Kat didn’t smoke but Darrel did a little in his teens

-Kat has an insane sense of like, what’s coming. She knew that all her babies would be boys and she had an awful feeling the day that the crash happened. She had a kind of super sense that she passed on to her kids

-while they only biologically had three kids, they loved all of the gang like they were their kids

-they would’ve adopted them all if they could’ve

-they didn’t mind Pony being friends with Curly, they just wished they would’ve been safer when they hung out.

First of all, happy birthday!!

Pony is so used to being the youngest member of the gang, that when he eventually becomes older than Johnny and Dally, it just feels wrong. He’s not ready to leave them behind but it’s been years and he can’t just stop his life because he lost people (it’s something he’s become unfortunately very familiar with)

Sometimes I forget that Dally and Johnny are actually canonically dead. Like Dally did actually kill himself after Johnny died. They’re both dead, and they’re not coming back and nothing is going to change that. The gang went from seven to five in just a few hours and nothing will ever fix that. They all lost so much and they’re all so young.

I was thinking about this but I feel like Pony might've visited Curly in the reformatory. Curly's there for 6 months and he doesn't really have a clue about what's going on with Pony, so there's this slight comfort in having someone speak to you normally because they have no clue about what happened in the last few weeks/months. He's also like Pony's last remaining friend outside of the gang because he's not really close with anyone anymore so talking to Curly feels very nice for him

See Curly LOVES having Pony visit him, even if he’s a little confused. Pony has fucked up bleached hair now and he honestly looks like shit but hey, at least he’s visiting Curly who really hadn’t talked much to anyone since he got locked up.

He doesnt ask about the haunted look in Pony’s eyes, or how he flinches at the mention of Dallas or Johnny or how he looks like he’s on the verge of death. They just chat and laugh and bicker like everything is normal. Like Curly is locked up once again and like Pony is wasting away
