If you were to apply the trolley problem to the Disir the decision Merlin made was to kill one to save many. The decision Arthur made was to let the train run over the one then stab the many people on the other tracks himself. Just saying for all those who blame Merlin for Arthur's decision. Whose choice should we be judging more harshly..

Revisiting this post and thinking about how Arthur literally was confronted with the trolley problem and his response was unironically to let the train run over the one person that he liked so that he HIMSELF could continue killing the larger group of people he didn't like tied to the other tracks. Okay so The Death Song of Uther Pendragon implies that Uther has been watching over the developments of Camelot since his death, hence why he knows Arthur has knighted commoners and marrried Guinevere, all without Arthur needing to tell him. But,, in all those years,, Uther still didn’t notice that Merlin was using magic?? Not even once???

I think maybe Uther honestly didn’t notice Merlin using magic. He was probably more concerned with Arthur and how he was “ruining his (Uther’s) kingdom”. If you remember Uther was pissed that Arthur knighted commoners and even married one. He literally tried to kill Gwen at one point.

Uther was more focused on what he perceived to be his son’s failings as King than magic at this point. Yes, he was still strongly against it, but he felt it was more important to stop Arthur than look for magic.

(At least that’s what I think idk)

  • Merlin helping him commit forgery

like he is there, ready to sacrifice himself and goes to merlin and just kisses him and merlin is there like wtf just happened and lancelot is like "i love you, i will do anything for you, i will do anything for your happiness" and then merlin comes to his senses, because obviously he too loves lancelot and wants to see him happy, possibly with him, and so he makes a wyvern go into that protal and the day is saved and merlin has a new boyfriend and lancelot doesn't DIE
