michael tull Honestly, I remember buying this record back in the 80's just because all the good rap was being released on Profile Records, I was so disappointed when I heard this... I was such an idiot! So Good! Favorite track: Be Thankful (Reference Mix).

about

Craig Peyton was a mainstay in NYC jazz and dance music beginning in the 70s. From playing on Dan Hartman's "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" to his work on boogie funk productions with Daryl Payne, he is one of the unsung heroes of the era where disco transitioned into house music. His drum machine and synth based cover of William Devaughan's "Just Be Thankful" came out on Profile Records in 1983, a daring move for a white man trained on the vibes. He gives the jam a haunting and funky rework that has only escalated in popularity over the years. It has been bootlegged extensively while original copies remain quite elusive.
