So apparently they used an AI when recruiting all of those new ICE agents and it didn’t properly identify which recruits had law enforcement experience and which didn’t.

This led to a lot of people with no experience in stuff like gun safety and deescalation and a bunch of other law enforcement skills just being sent to the field.

Not that most cops are wonderful at these things either but they at least usually have some training.

Anyways they’re having to comb through their files manually to figure out who they need to send over for physicals and actual training.

what-even-is-thiss

I just find this sort of thing fascinating because it’s another in a series of examples of this administration being run by people who really don’t know what they’re doing. On every level.

Like they’re evil but they’re also so bad at it.

For all the issues the wolf reintroduction has caused in Colorado (wolf reintroduction=good, the way Colorado has done it=horrid), the one that I have not seen literally anyone talk about is the fact that everyone with a single goat went out and got a livestock guardian dog, chucked them out in the fields without any training, and just called it good. So now we've got a bunch of half feral livestock guardian dogs running around everywhere, just making up their own territories and attacking anyone who wanders through. One attacked my sister's CAR while she was going almost 30mph a few months back. Imagine if that had been a kid on an ATV, not an adult woman in an enclosed vehicle? When we called the non-emergency number to let them know, the dispatcher literally groaned and said, "not again. Nobody is training these things!"

"Wolves are going to start attacking people!11!" No, bitch, your fucking Anatolian Shepherd is.

Instincts still require training and refinement. You do not want a large, independent-natured dog making up its own rules. You will not like many of those rules.

And some individuals won't have good instincts and will require extra training, or plain won't work out.

English shepherds are herding dogs. Australian cattle dogs are herding dogs. My ES/ACD mix dog had zero herding instinct but would have made a decent livestock guardian. He had no desire to chase the sheep. When I *made* him chase the sheep he apparently assumed it was hunting time and bit the sheep. A sharp recall and he was back beside me showing no interest again in the sheep.

#friend of mine's parents got one of those giant bernese mountain dogs and didn't really bother to train it #just let it hang out in the yard and do whatever #chill dog but also didn't understand No or Stop and he apparently did finally attack someone so he had to be kept on a halter (FINALLY) #anyway that was also sort of their approach to parenting well meaning but ultimately no structure and minimal intervention #don't do this to either children or dogs (tags via @arinrowan because I know way too many people who do this to both children and dogs)

Cats have to put up with being picked up and getting kissies and being cradled like the little baby and it’s so funny to me because like. They chose that. They domesticated themselves

kaijuno

"I suppose I shall tolerate the kisses from mama and papa... it will result in my kin 2000 years from now getting treats and scratchy posts for free..."

And it will make me cry forever and ever that the first recorded cat name was "Sweetie"

I live by the motto, “if you can’t buy what you want, make it.” And this motto came to life recently in the form of a floral mosaic dining table for my back deck.

image

Our deck table had been showing its age already when the wind caught the umbrella and cracked it. I wanted to replace it with a mosaic table because I’d been enjoying that art form recently. But I couldn’t get one the size I wanted so I got creative.

I spent a few weeks looking for tile and figuring out a very loose design concept. I started by picking a limited set of tile shapes and a color palette.

Once the tiles arrived I had a piece of particle board cut to size for the base and I experimented with different motifs until I settled on a selection of floral shapes that gave me plenty of variety to fill space without locking me into one repeating pattern.

And then I was off! I basically doodled my way around the table, attaching tiles with Weld Bond (I went through 4 full bottles!) and rocking out to the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack.

Once the florals were done it was time for the background…

image

Over 3,800 1cm glass tiles make up the not-design part of the design. It went pretty quickly though because I just had to fill the space, leaving room for grout.

Once I had the tile done, my husband assisted with disassembly and reassembly. We used the legs off the original table for this one (waste not).

One huge bucket of black grout later…

image

She is finished.

I enjoyed making it and just looking at it makes me so happy - I can’t wait for all the dinners we’ll have around this table 🌼❤️

media is one of the easiest things to boycott. it doesn't provide things you need to survive like food or transportation or anything like that. but people really keep acting like it's the most difficult thing to do bc of their mental health or whatever excuse they're using at the moment. people can't even bring themselves to just, not engage in fandom, or pirate things if they're THAT incapable of letting something go. it's really sad honestly.
