one of my strongly held beliefs is that self driving cars should not exist. i don’t care how good the technology gets, i will not trust it. if you want transportation that you don’t have to be in control of, you should be in support of better public transit. you want trains.

As someone who's never lived in a household with a car: there's so much more to transit than trains.

Self driving buses would make a major difference to frequency, especially out in lower density areas.

Also, sometimes a taxi is really the option you need. Getting to an airport or train station with a fair amount of luggage, for instance. Though whether self driving is a good move for cabs is debatable, though.
