Lolita fashion is wild to me because it seems like no one just Gets Into Lolita. they have to go on long arduous quests to acquire each piece like they’re assembling a magical artifact scattered across the corners of the earth.
I think I’d look pretty cute in understated ouji but I don’t have the time to battle all thirteen of the dreaded Waistcoat Witches in their invisible temples just to try it out you know?
I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.
I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.
Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.
Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
Are there any other particularly egregious examples?
This book already exists, sort of! Or at least, it’s a biology textbook but I bought it for writing purposes:
It starts with a chapter about freezing to death, and it is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve read in years (and I read a lot of horror fiction).
This book can be downloaded for free on Researchgate, posted there by the author himself:
The only way forward is to stop treating masculinity as synonymous with harmful, monstrous, or dangerous.
There is a fundamental difference between “men are dangerous” (wrong, bioessentialist) and “the patriarchy allows dangerous men to exist unchecked” (true).
“exercise will give you more energy” gets said a lot as a common piece of health advice but I think it needs to be expanded into “exercising will make you tired while you do it, and you will continue to be tired immediately afterwards, sometimes even the next day too, but over months of consistent exercise, your muscles will get stronger and therefore get less tired out by everyday activities, making you feel like day-to-day life takes less physical energy than it used to”
yeah it’s all by choice and not because i have issues with intimacy and vulnerability and abandonment and relationships and my body and my parents and my childhood and how much i value myself and how im perceived and
haters do not want you to know this but if you pick up something heavy every day it will eventually stop being quite as heavy. this is because the heavy thing, having witnessed your dedication, begins to yield its essence to you. and you, in turn, begin to absorb that essence into your own being. this is what makes people strong. the more essence you absorb, the stronger you become, and the more respect you command from the world around you.
