Recorded mostly in 2021 and 2022 , This EP is a labour of Kai Love and a snapshot of the Original Quintet Line - Up . Many of the tracks explore jazz fusion , yacht rock and prog territory , as that was the flavour of the day , underpinned by the Hip Hop Idiom as ever present in Paul's production .
Creativity is often an exhaustion of inspirations : - this EP reflects many of the things that have inspired us over the years , and a general aesthetic of futuristic neo hyper jazz hip hop core .
Massive shoutout to Gus Stirrat who came through on so much of this material with his insane work ethic and attentiveness , and to Callum Bentley who helped mix the middle section of Deluge , has always been on hand to feedback to the band on their next move , and whose original idea it was to call a band 'Kai Reesu' ( a cryptic interpretation of a Roviana term for 'Don't Move' , and the name of Robert's cousin ) .
Shoutouts to Harry Weir who plays in Deluge and 'ugh (alternative edit) , to Adam Jackson who also plays in Deluge , and to Arran Black who engineered the first section of Deluge , in the beautiful Starla Studios - which will surely be the home of our next few recordings to come .
We've included some extras on Bandcamp :- the 'ugh (alternative edit)' , 'slop.ii (trio re-dub)' , 'tokyo (cptzeppo tape edit (paul's beat making alias)' and 'plvto' .
Many a debate occurred over the track 'ugh' and theres still a lot of love for the original edit so we thought we'd offer it up to our fans . As for the other stuff, thats strictly hip hop lovers , beefy tape edits kind of vibes .
ALL LOVE
