5299Like, don’t take this is an “all mutual aid posts are scams” thing, because I’m sure most such requests are perfectly legit, but I’ve received like four different donation request DMs in the last week from people claiming their kids are “dying of autism”, and I’m reasonably sure that’s not how it works.
reblog if you too are dying of autism

1027That Stockton Rush kinda talks like Cave Johnson – and met a similar fate – isn’t a reflection of prescience on the part of Valve’s writers. It’s a reflection of the fact that mediocre trust fund kids turned megacorporate CEOs who like to cosplay as genius inventors have been a thing for decades, and watching one of them get blown the fuck up by his own “innovations” has been an aspirational fantasy for nearly as long. Rush was just the first specimen of the type to be kind enough to make that fantasy a reality.

61864This is yet another thing I thought Pratchett had made up but turned out to be totally real.
Unrelated but any time someone mentions clown makeup I’m reminded of how highly successful stage magician Penn Jillette almost flunked out of clown college and had to take remedial clown makeup classes.
My father was a magician and a clown. When he died, we cleared out his old clotehs and there was his clown suit.
“Oh I’ll take this down to the charity shop” said my mother, missing hte part where no sane person is going to wear a clown suit.
“Nah” said I, “Have them dress him in it when they cremate him.”
There was a pause and my throw-away joke started to slowly solidify into ‘Yeah let’s do that’.
A discussion was had with the mortician who had a bit of a worry that the costume would involve giant clown shoes which would prevent the coffin closing.
Luckily it wasn’t that sort of outfit.
I told this to my dear friend who immediately envisaged someone trying to close a coffin onto a dead clown, only to have the big red nose go *Sad honk* every time there was an attempt to close the lid.
The awful hilarity rendered her incapable of standing.
The poor mortician can’t figure out why it still won’t close, and has to remove 5 dead clowns from the coffin before it finally shuts.

8833So, I love looking through your game recs, and all of them look so interesting!
The only problem is that I have zero money at the moment, or at least zero that can be spent of games.
I don’t suppose you know any good/enjoyable games that are free or have a demo?
(There is only so much time you can spend doing housework or looking for work and I’ve replayed and replayed the games I’ve already got so many times)
It’s funny you should ask. Folks often ask me how the hell I have thousands of games in my Steam library, and the answer is, well, a substantial chunk of them are free to play. Many of them are very, very bad, but there are exceptions – I’ve placed links to the 120 or so that I’d actually recommend to other people under the cut.
A lot of these games are quite short (i.e., average playing time in the five to fifteen minute range), but they’re free, so really that’s good value for your money! Note: owing to the length of this list, I will not be including descriptions or content warnings – be sure to check the writeups and reviews.
I’ve marked my personal top dozen with asterisks (*). These aren’t necessarily the most approachable or well-constructed titles on this list, mind – just the ones I had the most fun with.

1459So far the principal cultural difference I’ve observed between Tumblr and Bluesky is that on Bluesky people keep DMing me to explain why they hate their dads.
Are you requesting people DM you to explain why they hate their dads on tumblr? Because I’m more than happy to oblige.
I am not.
So no DM’s about dads? Fine, a reblog to tell you I hate my mom.

4587I have no problem with slice-of-life AUs, but it bugs me when they don’t try hard enough to adapt the characters’ whole deal to the new milieu. “Samus Aran would be a gym instructor” nah, man – think pest control. She used to work for one of the big outfits in town, but she was forced to go freelance after that one lady’s house burned to the ground during a routine bedbug fumigation. Officially it wasn’t her fault – the client didn’t properly disclose what kind of chemicals she was keeping in her basement – but word gets around, you know?
#she’s got an unhealthy fixation on killing bugs because her dad died from a spider bite when she was a kid#it’s a whole THING

1745Only two of Samus Aran’s five dads have (provably) committed war crimes, which if we’re being honest is actually quite good for a protagonist in her position.
Together we can make that number go UP
Given that all five of her dads are currently dead, I’d be fascinated to see that in action. Like, are we retroactively revealing previously unknown war crimes by the three non-war-criminal dead dads, or are we giving her additional war criminal dads to tank the ratio?
I’d argue that three out of five dads have (probably) committed war crimes – the Chozo adoptive dads likely took what scraps of Afloraltite (a very valuable fuel source) from K-2L were left after the Space Pirate incident, which could be considered pillaging.
(PS. the ‘5 dads’ are Rodney Aran (biological), Grey Voice and Old Bird (adoptive), Raven Beak (DNA donor), and Adam Malkovich (surrogate figure, but that’s highly debatable))

8242Dragoneer fucking died because the hospital fucked him over for a week like holy shit dude he literally stayed home because he was too broke and too sick to go back. regardless of ur feelings on the dude thats so fucking grim how the us health system can just deny you a chance to live on a whim
this wasnt a joke by the way
This was the last thing he ever posted mind you this was on top of an INITIAL $25K charge. He was killed by corporate greed and nothing more. Fucking abysmal country
I don’t go here often and only have a vague idea of what’s been going on behind the scenes, but AFAIK buying back FurAffinity back in 2021 cost Dragoneer a shitton out of pocket as well as giving up his health insurance.
From my limited perspective, he chose between FA and personal health and it cost him dearly – another victim of a shit system. That shouldn’t have been a choice at all.
I advise any artist on FA to back-up their work and connections as best as possible, because I sincerely believe that there is no plan to deal with Dragoneer’s passing on the FA side of things.

5834I understand that The Amazing Digital Circus is ripe for “what if the main character snapped and killed everybody” crackfic, but y'all, if Pomni went off the deep end she would not be your sexy glitchcore murderwife. She’d do it screaming and flailing, and it’d make Tom and Jerry sound effects the whole time she’s killing you.
This is what your death at her hands would sound like:
