no need to be embarrassed, but this is diamine bashful blueberry fountain pen ink!

this is another ink from the cult pens exclusive fresh fruit line, and it really takes blurple to the next level.

...because it is both blue and purple, at the same time.

on midori MD paper, you can really appreciate the dual shading. depending on the way this dye pools, it can appear blue, purple, or even pink!

and around the edges, you can see a tiny tiny purple and pink border (you might need to zoom in to see this) surrounding the slight red sheen. that red sheen is from dye crystals drying on top of the paper.

Another ink drop close-up, showing how the grid lines help form something of a border for the ink in that particular spot.ALT

and speaking of the paper, diamine bashful blueberry is another ink that seems prone to getting sucked into the inked grid lines. from what I have come to understand since starting these types of pictures, the ink on the paper helps saturate it enough to give it a little extra sucking power. so it draws the ink in, and can form something of a barrier depending on the circumstances.

here it is as a swatch! this ink gets really light, and you can see the pink much more clearly. you can also tell from this swatch that even in the darker areas, there is virtually no sheen. so although you will get some sheen in massive quantities, diamine bashful blueberry would not be an ink you would get for sheen performance.

    aaannnndd....enhance!

at the bottom of the blob in the bottom right, you can see more of that distinct dual shading action, and more of the grid lines forming a border.

I was really surprised with this ink! dual shading inks (or chroma shading, or multi shading, or whatever else you want to call them) are definitely much rarer than regular shading inks, and I did not expect to find one in the fresh fruit collection! it really reminds me of sailor manyo nekoyanagi.

    what do you think?

to me, it almost feels like a waste to have this one hidden in the fresh fruit collection!

  • I haven’t made any fountain pen related purchases in a long time because I have a complex about spending money on frivolous things, but I think I need to now. I can’t work with iroshizuku in my hobonichi anymore. The smearing is getting too aggravating. I’ll probably just use it for journaling now since I have 2 bottles of different colors…

I’m slightly worried about what it’ll be like to use a highly pigmented ink, most people recommend d'atramentis, because it’ll require a bit more upkeep, but I really want something that dries a bit faster and isn’t as wet. I guess I should look into similar inks though.

    Squid glass dip pens!

I didn't get much torch time this summer so instead of trying to churn out a bunch of the same old I decided to learn a new skill. I haven't perfected it yet but I'm getting there.

I wasnt planning on posting these actually but I showed them to my friends so. I bought a new mini fountain pen yesterday from Papier. It came with a cartridge and is pretty cute. It’s weighty even though it’s small and I like that it feels very sturdy. The fact that you can post the cap is a plus. The nib is F and I usually prefer EF, but it feels like a thinner F nib than say, a platinum preppy F (I wish fountain pen nib sizes were standardized.)

I’m curious if it’s compatible with any converters, but I imagine the small size means it’s better to just use cartridges? The cartridge that came with it took some force to insert but I managed to finally get it and the writing experience is pretty good

  • There's a gap between the nib and the feed on my preppy and I literally use this thing every day but I can't fix it right now because it has ink in it. But it just stopped writing 😭

  • I know it's easy to fix this I just hate like...wasting ink... Ugggggghh

  • Whatever I guess the saga begins now of trying to fix this

    image
  • Not sure if I fixed it since the gap is still there but it’s smaller . I guess I’ll let the nib saturate and see how it writes
